exactly. People from anywhere in the country have standing to demonstrate against a federal agency.
and at this point she's backed herself into a corner and it will be awfully hard for her to de-escalate the troopers' tactics without losing face. I guess we'll find out if she's too stubborn to do the smart thing or will continue to double down on provoking the violence.
The outdoor security was transferred to the Newark police from the state police.
And what if there were some bad actors who came in to stir up trouble in an attempt to discredit the protestors, and elicit a violent response from ICE and the police? It wouldn’t surprise me.
It seems like a lot of people are lining up to throw Sherrill under the bus. I’m not saying this wasn’t a mistake. But the long knives seem to have come out on both sides.
I'm not "lining up" with anyone. But Sherrill deserves all the criticism she's getting. It was a huge mistake to send a riot squad of troopers to Newark.
She should know better. Anyone paying the least bit of attention to history knew what she did was going to provoke violence instead of preventing it. Sure, send in the police, but in regular uniform, not armor and shields.

Was that picture taken recently? I know he had an appearance at NJPAC promoting his Presidential campaign book.
What I would love is for him to hire some staff to occasionally answer his phones.
Yes, a couple of weeks ago. I've been following him on FB for years. He regularly posts there. I actually became aware of him when he was Mayor of Newark. He was interested in the shelter in SOMA and was trying to get a decent shelter open in his town.
I often sign petitions which are sent to Congress. I have noticed Andy Kim is more responsive to them.
As for the theory of a Presidential campaign, I don't see it. I think he knows he has a more secure job in the Senate. My guess is he is devoting himself to protecting voting rights and that is guiding his geographical choices.
That said, I understand your frustration if his office doesn't respond.
I am by the way looking forward to some lively MOL discussions when the candidates start testing the waters.
I was reading a review about a book written by Antony Beevor on the The Second World War, where he outlined how the RAF during the Battle Of Britain drew its strength from pilots from outside Britain. They included Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians and South Africans. But the best pilots were the Poles who were determined to get their revenge on the Germans. The problem was that the Poles didn’t speak much English and were often apprehended by locals when they were shot down. When one was shot down, he was surrounded by men with guns who said: Hande hoch (Hands Up). The Pole in his best English said: F… off. And the Poms suddenly realised he was one of theirs ...

A couple of thoughts, lifted from elsewhere.
I wonder if they realise that holding an outdoor event on the White House lawn totally invalidates the argument for a high security ballroom…
And ...
Trump making half-naked sweaty men fight on his front lawn is a great way to celebrate Pride Month. Hats off to him.
