 Fair point.

Then there's Senator Braun of Indiana, who is actually proud of this, and told everybody about it on the Twitter:

we could have been running that video on a loop for the past 4 years regarding Trump and the GOP

IOKIYAR

IOKIYAR It's OK If You're A Republican  grin

I do believe that the Trump defense will be simplicity over details - slogans over facts - dummy down everything for perfect soundbites.

The house will spend 24 hours detailing countless issues with abuse of power and obstruction of evidence.

Trump's team will simply say - Zelensky felt no pressure - money was delivered by the delivery date - nothing illegal on the call - no charge constituted a crime or impeachable offense.  End of story.

Originally thought this was going to be a vain effort with no reward. But Schiff et. al. are leaving the public with lots of evidence and pulling the curtain on spineless GOPers in Senate months before election. I think some good will come of this effort.

That's pretty much it. And Fox, OAN, BlazeTV, NewsMaxTV, etc. will run with that and all the Trump defense team's versions of it. People watching those networks won't even see the other side, cultists who who stray from those have been conditioned to be skeptical of all mainstream news and will consider it biased anyway.

Let's review how Trump frames things:

Hillary - The EMAILS! Lock her up!

Ukraine - Perfect phone call

Bernie - Socialist - crazy bernie

Mueller Report - big hoax - complete exoneration

His campaign - MAGA

When the other side's retort exceeds more then 5 words - it doesn't stick.  We have abandoned thoughtful discussion to memes.  It if doesn't fit on a hat - don't bother.

This was Fox yesterday.

Add to that Impeachment - Witch Hunt

What I am dreading is the State of the Union speech.

I don’t think Trump created FB, Twitter,  Instagram, IPhones, computer games, etc, The instant gratification means we now have to learn what is going on world-wide. It is the world we must live in. There is no going back to t-shirt slogans.

While this is our reality going forward, it is not all bad. We may achieve peace in the Middle East with citizen awakenings replacing dictatorships.

Problems remain: how can free speech be controlled and/or monitored; should free speech be controlled and/or monitored?

I love negotiating but sometimes it's tough to do on FB. A discussion came up in my  Newsfeed, and I considered posting but the person responding to a friend was attacking and name calling. I looked at his FB page, saw a big Lone Star flag, and realized his fury was geographical. He hated all of us who he considered other. That seemed like more than the issue at hand so I passed. Negotiating even when you are outnumbered is appealing but arguing for the sake of argument isn't.

As for free speech, I think we all agree it is precious but there's the whole yelling fire in a theater limitation. It comes down to common sense. If you see a page calling for violence, report it. If someone is attacking and name calling, join in or move on.

mtierney - have you watched any of the trial?  Do you have any issues with how Trump's timing of looking into Ukraine corruption was directly related to Biden's presidential announcement?  Or the fact that he's only concerned with corruption in Ukraine as related to the 2016 election, Burisma and the Bidens?  Or that he's taking Rudy's intel over all of the US Agencies - such as crowdstrike?

Yes — even the hearings, the three week wait of will she or won’t she bring the documents to the Senate, last week was mind-numbing, and this week is a replay of the last six months. The Democrats have wanted him out office since 2016. Period.

If this whole show had been a bipartisan effort (not 4 senators jumping ship at the 11th hour), we would be watching a democracy at work. What is happening in Washington now is disgraceful and patently obvious.

I also believe, that this late in the election year with no end in sight, the Democratic Party is in mega trouble. The dozens of wantabees have been spending all their time and energy fighting to impeach the President. Who really  knows what they are “for” ?  We do know who they are against.

Let the voters decide in November.

It's kind of odd to talk about the impeachment and not even mention the charges.

Do you think Trump did anything wrong?

ok, so no comment to my questions.  Not surprising - no one is able to defend his actions.

I answered your first question. Multiple questions are tiresome.i definitely stated what I thought about this impeachment fiasco.

He's being impeached for cheating in the November election.  Don't you think that kind of complicates things?

Democrats have wanted him out of office since 2016 because he's completely unfit for duty. He was grossly unfit to be President before you voted for him, he's done nothing but destroy the strength and reputation of this country for his own personal gain since you voted for him, and he will only get worse after you vote him again in November in spite of what a pitiful, crooked, drug-addled human being he is, mteirney.

And you will vote for him, because he will not be impeached thanks to judges. Not the ones that exist now, but the political appointees that going to **** our country from within that the Senate is packing the federal courts with now.

And maybe before his tenure is over, he'll give his evangelical followers what they dream of, and it won't matter anyway.

Do you think Trump did anything wrong?

Were any criminal violations cited in the first article of impeachment?

Where is the language regarding cheating in the 2016 election in the Articles of Impeachment?

Context indicates that Ms. mtierney and Mr. Klinker are referring to November 2020.

RFA is incapable of processing context.  That's why he spends so much time chasing straw men.

The House managers and leaders are not "wantabees". Pelosi is Speaker of the House. Some of the Managers are Committee Chairs. They do not want to be something else, they are.

The Democrats contesting for their Party's Presidential Nomination know what they are for and have been arguing about as have those posting on other threads here on MOL.

OMG watching hannity- complete slam of Schiff.  Calling him a big baby liar basically. It’s the Schumer Schiff shim sham show.
this show is like watching a cartoon or a z100 morning show.

Please refer to him as President Schiff.

Thank you.

Surprised that you are responding to this impeachment hearing with such anger. I'm so inspired by the entire presentation that as odd as it may sound, I kept feeling real pride as I watched. it. Adam Schiff was a modern day Frank Capra hero. He knows the numbers are against him but he delivered his final impassioned speech appealing to the Senate for a vote for decency.

We are watching democracy in action. You just have to open your heart to see it.

The wantabees I was referring to were the Democrat candidates running against Trump in November. They have been essentially off the canvass for weeks now.
