Republicans debate

Vivek actually received a $90,000 award from the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, which was founded by Daisy and Paul Soros, the older brother of liberal billionaire financier George Soros. He claimed  that after graduating from Harvard, he "didn’t have the money" to afford Yale Law School.

Ramaswamy is full of s***.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ramaswamys-claims-came-no-money-clash-prep-school-upbringing

When Ramaswamy accepted the award in 2011, he was a first-year law student at Yale and had been working for several years as an investment analyst at the hedge fund QVT Financial.

In 2011, the same year he accepted the award, Ramaswamy reported $2,252,209 in total income, according to his tax returns. He reported a total of $1,173,690 in income in the three years prior.

Vivek The Swami is raising more money than DeSantis after his trump-like performance at the debate. He’s trying so hard to be like trump. I’m not surprised, look at the support trump has in India. Modi thinks the man is right up there with the likes of Vishnu. It’s beyond me why people are silent about India and its racist apartheid system of segregation.

Much as I might dislike him, Ramaswamy is an American, born and raised in Ohio.  I'm not sure that the focus on his parents race and ethnicity is really warranted here.  Smacks a little of birtherism (although I do understand that you are not arguing that he was born abroad).

Saying this in the most gentle way I can as someone with Indian family.

especially when there are SO many other reasons to dislike him.

he had an interview today with Andrea Mitchell.  (don't know if the link shows the whole interview)

SO MUCH B.S. in so short a time.

Plus, he yells a lot.

No wonder he has support among the R's.

he's a young Trump.

He trolls the libs, so the GOP voters love him.

Does the Republican Party stand for anything anymore outside of owning the libs?

Kamala Harris is a descendant of an Indian man who was born in Jamaica. In case some of you don’t know, the Indians from India are not so welcoming of Indians who settled in the Caribbean. My wife is the daughter of an Indian man whose parents disowned him because he married out of his caste. You guys have to understand just how racist these segregationists are. If they marry a white person it’s good… Vivek is actually very racist, it oozes from his language. Being born in America proves nothing to me. End of story.

I mean, if your beef is really with Hindus and the caste system, maybe target that (although this guy has embraced evangelical christianity).  My wife's family are Sikhs and equality is one of the fundamental tenets of Sikhism. The terms "Indian" and "Hindu" definitely are not interchangeable.

In any case, I really don't think there is a need to other this guy.  He's MAGA through and through and that particular brand of nuttery is 100% Made in the USA.

BTW, my wife's Sikh relatives in the States LOVE Kamala.  So proud of her and she isn't even Punjabi.

It’s my understanding that he hasn’t, but he does pander to them.

I stand corrected.

That does sort of change things. Hindu nationalism has certainly been a blight on the sub continent.

That said, Hindu does not equal Indian.  As I said before, there are many people in India who want nothing to do with the caste system.

Her father’s family were Jamaicans for generations. Who is this Indian man of whom you speak?

I don't think that his perspective is based on anything in India. Ramaswamy is thoroughly indoctrinated into the American caste system, and his pronouncements on the campaign reflect that.

Vivek the swami is all over the place with his racism. Some of you do not understand how the caste system is structured. And you should ask a Sikh about it if you’re not sure how it works.

Farhad Manjoo’s column yesterday captured what he really believes in - himself.
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/opinion/vivek-ramaswamy.html

[Edited to add quote from column]
”But his current comfort with ‘woke’ works for winning over a G.O.P. primary audience. When he needs to cultivate a broader base, whether in the general election or in hopes of expanding his Rolodex for whatever side hustle comes next, I’m sure he won’t hesitate to reach out and tell me just what he thinks I want to hear.”

Is Tim Scott dumber than Hershel Walker? Customized curtains can not be returned….
Crispy Creme is actually going after teachers and Nikki Hayley seems to be the only adult in this klusterphuk of a debate last night.

Oh, miss MT is not even asking where her candidate is at…

Vivek the swami now says transgenderism is a mental health disorder… as if teenagers struggling with their issues need more idiotic comments.

According to the Fox News, the debate was bad for anyone who showed up.

The only person more fascist than the Biden regime now is Nikki Haley.'

Vivek the swami….

Won't help him, but Christie having his best showing.

Biggest question after this debate - who will be T****'s running mate?  Seems like Vivek has the best shot.

Eff no! Vivek is a toad, but he's also a narcissist himself. He will never lickspittle like Mike Pence. He's the only one who has never had office. The big trick is that all these might think they're auditioning for VP, but Trump won't pick any of them. That Kyle Rittenhouse kid has more chance of being chosen for VP than any of these idiots.

True, but I think he'd assume the position for 4 years.  Yes, he's a narcissist - but the opportunist in him would be fine with #2 for a bit.

Being Trump's VP doesn't work either financially or for political status, for a guy like Ramaswamy.

I can't imagine any of the remaining Republican contenders being selected as vp.

He might pick a moron like JD Vance.

Since we’re in the topic of VP pick for trump, I’ve been thinking he would pick a woman. Sanders, Noem and Stefanik, at first before the debates started I was thinking he would pick Nikki Hayley, but I’m not sure she wants to be VP. Who knows with these politicians?

The one with the least baggage (just a podium) and the most experience as an attack dog for Trump is Arkansas Governor Sanders. Perfect pick for his VP.
