Rush Limbaugh has lung cancer

The nicest thing I can say is that I'm happy he'll be "away."

I used to tell my kids that if you can’t say something nice about someone, say nothing at all.

I do not always follow my own advice.

I pray that there will never be a time in my life when I would wish someone pain and suffering and death.

No Pollyanna here, I dislike some people, but none to the degree I would wish to get cancer.

Lots of folks, however, who I might think of as  boorish, or boring, or both, I try not to wish them bodily harm. Certainly, to wish a person advanced cancer, is unspeakable.

Let's not get confused hear. I am not wishing the cancer upon him. He got that all on his own.

I just think that the miserable POS deserves to suffer. I don't really care how the suffering comes about.

In a just world, the man would have faced some consequences for his behavior, the way a criminal suffers by going to jail. Instead, he is admired by millions, has huge power and social influence, and is a wealthy man. A success in America!

In the face of this injustice, I have no qualms that he is now faced with an adverse consequence.

I hope he burns in hell.

Why I'm wasting my time arguing this point to you, mtierney, I have no idea. You make more excuses for horrid behavior than anyone on MOL.

I’m inclined to believe that you do pray as you say.   What I am sure of is that while praying as such, you also support people who INFLICT pain, suffering, and death.

I think rush is a despicable person, but I also think it’s despicable to celebrate his demise and even wish him suffering. Not surprising to see it here, though.

at what level of despicableness is it ok to celebrate a person's demise?  Because I'm pretty sure there isn't anyone alive who hasn't celebrated at least one person's death, and maybe even a gruesome and painful death.

Personal decision I guess. I personally don’t think it’s despicable to celebrate the demise of the Bin laden, Hitler, Pol Pot types. But something about gleefully wishing suffering on a radio personality is off-putting to me, no matter how despicable the guy is.

Just out of curiosity, for you, what is the distinction?  The policies that Limbaugh has successfully advocated have resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people (millions if you count the Iraq War).

I'm not gleeful. I just think he deserves a punishment for his life, and this fits the bill.

And for you to characterize him as just a "radio personality" perfectly explains your love for Chris Cillizza.

I didn't know a cancer could get cancer.

Rush will sit with Melania tonight.

Rush is apparently going to be getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

You should get out more.

You've never been glad about someone's death?  Maybe I'm a terrible person, because I'll admit I have.

Just a few of his bon mots of understanding and wisdom apparently deserving of the Medal of Freedom (joining the ranks of others such as Elie Wiesel, Harper Lee, Walter Cronkite, Jonas Salk and Maya Angelou). -Only in Trump World could this be.

Rush on women: "Women still live longer than men because their lives are easier."

Rush on women protesting sexual harassment: “They’re out there protesting what they actually wish would happen to them sometimes.”

Rush on feminism: "Feminism has led women astray. I love the women’s movement — especially when walking behind it.”

Rush on African Americans voting: “[African Americans] are twelve percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

Rush on nicotine: “There is no conclusive proof that nicotine’s addictive... And the same thing with cigarettes causing emphysema, lung cancer, heart disease.”

Rush on the genocide of American Indians: “Columbus saved the Indians from themselves.”

Also: Don’t forget his rants against drug users while ignoring the fact he was caught with over 1000 oxy pills from 4 different doctors.

I just went on a small rant to my son about this POS...

Honestly, no. And as sincere as the rhetorical flourish can be, it’s not that you’re a terrible person. It’s just that there are plenty of people who don’t look at things the way you do. On this matter, I’m pretty sure myself that I’m fortunate to know quite a few of them.

Omg he just got the medal

Hate to say it, but this speech is going quite well.

well,  it's kind of easy when you lie at will and have an audience filled with sycophantic ***-kissers.

so you're saying that at no time have you ever thought, upon someone's death - "good riddance" ?

You've never evaluated someone else's life and thought - "their evil will no longer be perpetrated on us, and I'm glad of that?"

You've never thought that the death of someone was a good thing? You would prefer perhaps that they kept on living, doing their evil things?

What exactly do you think about when someone like that dies?

Rush is a racist a$$hole who has done immeasurable damage to our country.

meanwhile back to the SOTU - I'm not listening to the speech, because that way lies madness, but I have it running silently on a separate monitor.

How many freaking audience plants does he have tonight? It's got to be like 10-15 at least.

We’re watching the Trump reality show.

when I was a little kid, I played on a Little League team with a coach who verbally abused and humiliated me constantly. I loved baseball too much to quit, so I stuck it out for the entire miserable season. Years later as an adult I found out that coach died and my reaction was -- good! I'm glad he's dead. And I'm still glad he's dead.

But even though I'm not religious now, I was raised Catholic, and I do believe in redemption. If someone sincerely seeks forgiveness from me, I'll give it. But if not, I'm not inclined to volunteer forgiveness that wasn't sought.

1. Yup.

2. Nope.

3. I’d say we’re straying a bit now from celebration or wishes for pain and suffering.

4. Probably relief.
