Pro bono lawyer????

Anyone know of any local Pro-bono divorce lawyers????? Hate to even post this : /

Legal Services of NJ provides free legal services but you must be low-income to qualify. https://www.lsnj.org

Have 'pro-bono' and 'divorce lawyer' ever appeared in the same sentence before?

I guess, if you can consider the divorce for the public good...

You might qualify for wevorce, if you and your stbx are of the same mind. I heard about this on the podcast Death Sex Money.

If things are adversaries then definitely get legal advice.

However, if things are not that bad then pro se is another option. My ex and I couldn't stand each other but other than a few threats to take me for every penny I had (said when he was pissed but he came to his senses soon after when he realized he couldn't afford a lawyer) my ex and I were able to work things out and got through our divorce without any lawyers. Obviously if you can't agree on a fair custody agreement and/or property division then this is NOT the way to go.

Thanks! This is not for me, but for someone I love dearly. I think it's going to be pretty complicated, and legal aid probably isn't an option.

it is true the income limit is VERY LOW..maybe $20,000 for a single person if even that. Like someone who makes 20,001 is supposed to be able to pay a lawyer at least $250/hour.

And from what I remember, they don't actually represent people. They tell people how to represent themselves.
