People that are afraid of the escalator and the revolving door... Weirdest story? A woman---possibly from Mars---took the revolving door the wrong way (to the left insteasd of to the right)...
Actually, she was probably a Brit.
Or an Aussie.

IIRC, she was neither. She was a clueless local... But that was another time in a different world.

People who stand too close to me on the train platform in Maplewood. Back off !

People who set their automatic lawn watering systems to run during the times commuters are trying to get to/from the train station, and watering the sidewalks, the berm and the roadway in front of their house. Makes it really difficult, especially as days are getting shorter. Being forced out into the middle of the street when drivers are dealing with low light could be dangerous. We live on a street that's used by many people walking to the train station. Not a MAJOR problem, but an annoying one.

Whoever decided that glass and tiles would be wonderful materials for constructing shower cubicles...and didn't work out how to make them self-cleaning or mould resistant.

People on speakerphone on their mobile in a public space. I see folks holding their phone flat in front of them talking very loud, and the speaker likewise very loud.

I also notice some people who I think are talking regularly to their phone but don't realize it's on speaker.

Listening to someone talk on the cell phone in a public space is something I've gotten used to, especially if they speak normally. But speakerphone mode cranks up the very blaring sound of the other person.

...people who text while driving. I know this has been mentioned over and over again but it bears repeating. The young son of a high school friend of mine was killed on his bike last week by such a driver. This young son left a wife and two kids. The woman who hit him admitted she was looking at her phone and "heard a big thud."

Heartbreaking. And so avoidable.

People who use the term literally too liberally.

Why do people walk up the escalator but then come to a dead stop near the top before stepping off? That drives me bonkers.

ha, I do this. don't want to miss the last step or trip.

 I get that.

But people who get off the escalator and then just stand there!?! There are more people coming behind you on a mechanical conveyance! Get out of the way!

(Negative bonus points if they step off the escalator and immediately stop to look at their phone).

Ok, time to resurrect this thread - here's a few of my latest:

If you're making a left turn - inch into the intersection a little so that people have a chance to go around you.

This was awhile back - I got French toast at a place - $15 and got 3 half slices - where did the fourth half go - was it donated or something?

Not even - they were pretty average.

Served with Nutella and a generous serving of fresh berries?

People not stopping at intersections, rolling around the corner right in front of you and slowing down…it seems to be a common thing these days. One of the reasons I bought a dash cam is because of this.

People who think a discussion is over when they say "it's my opinion, so it can't be wrong!"

Um, yes it can be wrong.

people not signalling even when you're right on their butt.  Flicking your signal light has to be the about easiest barely-nothing  physical act there is, but tons have people have stopped doing it.

people who drive right on my butt.

People who think a discussion isn’t over until they convince someone that his or her wrong opinion is wrong.

And megarolls of toilet paper.

My theory is that with more people relying on navigation apps, they’re not as actively engaged in driving. Anticipating a turn and turning on their turn signal aren’t as likely when they’re waiting to be told what to do by an app.

Maybe Waze should introduce a feature that tells a driver “activate left hand turn signal now”.

And another one that says “hey bub stop driving so close to that person in front of you.”

waze can never teach people what 100 feet ahead is….”turn left 200 feet” has some people turning into the very next driveway 25 feet in front of them.

I live in Jersey City where parking is really, really tough. You'd think that people would be considerate and not take up more than a single parallel parking space. But noooo.  They leave 2 feet or more between their car and the car in from of them.

Man, it really burns my toast!

Yes, yes, yes!! My complex’s driveway is maybe 30 feet before a regular road. So many times a day people turn in here and then realize they’re in a parking lot. Duh. They’re relying on the GPS and using ZERO observational skills.

Here's my latest pet peeve---people who pronounce words that start with "st..." and pronounce it as though it is "scht.." I thought Michelle Obama gave a great speech, but it srove me NUTS every time she said "stand schtrong!" and if she used the word STRONG once she used it a dozen times. It is not a speech defect because she can say STOP and STAND why not STRONG?
This is more common than not.
I hate it. It drives me CRAZY and I want to SCREAM (not schcream)

Bring back the sibilant S!

just me being anal

I get up with a Swiss speaking woman in the house, and that's how she pronounced 'S'..sho to this day..

You'd think that after using a GPS for any length of time people would learn what 100 ft. and 200 ft. is. I think I can tell you what 1/10 of a mile looks like in my sleep.

Traffic - I hate traffic.  And we keep building more apartment complexes in the area!

I’ll see that and raise you anyone who uses speakerphone in a public place.

Ok, so Flex Tape.  Says it's good for hoses.  Well, that's probably if the hose is on and flowing.  If you're using a hose nozzle and you turn if off.  The flex tape patch (where I had a small hole) will fill up like a water balloon until it bursts.

But hey - at least it can stop a wrecking ball.

hmm, maybe wrapping it a few times would work.
