New York sent 1000 members of the National Guard to D.C. to remain until after the inauguration and New Jersey sent 500.

They haven't decided if the Guard soldiers will be armed, according to what I read this morning.
The new President takes office on January 20th no matter what. He can be sworn in anywhere. No hoopla is required.
I believe that when Warren Harding died Calvin Coolidge was sworn in by his father at his father's home. I will check.

I think the outdoor inauguration should be cancelled.
