I knew this felt oddly familiar.

every Cowboys' season is oddly familiar.

I hear that the cowpokes released Joseph Randle today, one of their upstanding citizens.

Be fair - they didn't release him because of his criminal behavior... they released him because they didn't think he could help the team. If he had real talent, well! Jerry would have gotten him OJ's lawyers!

See you in February...

Hell, he went from their starting RB, two weeks ago to being released, because he couldn't help the team. I'm sure sure I'm buying that case, sounds like a ligeti reply.

I stand by my observation. He got hurt, Dallas has better options available at the position so they dropped him. If they had needed him... well... they could have found a dozen dead hookers in his backyard and Jerry would have named him "a team leader" who "shows a lot of passion in the way he plays football and supports local independent contractors".

I wonder how long Greg Hardy will last if he gets hurt AND keeps up his bad behavior? Jerry will cut him loose like a cheerleader who gained 2 pounds. Because, you know, Jerry only wants prime-grade beef on his sidelines. He's not paying those gals for their brains, after all. Those little ladies need to look good! Yee-hah!

See you in February.

If Joseph Randle was a defensive end with game-changing skills, he would be still be a Cowboy. Instead, he's just another disposable veteran running back.

Dallas released Randle on Tuesday — no surprise — after his off-field issues piled up to the point of him going AWOL last week. It wouldn't have made a difference had he still been their starter over Darren McFadden. The Cowboys would have taken the same stand.

Why? It's more about the position he plays than the content of his character.

Randle, like defensive end Greg Hardy, had a domestic violence dispute on his unofficial rapsheet. Randle, unlike Hardy, can't do anything to help turn around the injury-riddled, 2-6 Cowboys' season.
In just three games as a Cowboy (albeit all losses), Hardy has three sacks and an interception. He's been a force in stopping the run, too, and grades out as a top 10 4-3 edge rusher, according to Pro Football Focus.
Meanwhile, Randle's three-touchdown game against Atlanta in Week 3 is a distant memory. For somebody who claimed he could be a better fit for the Cowboys' running game than DeMarco Murray and leave less "meat on the bone" behind their elite run-blocking line, Randle is now in a long NFL unemployment line with running backs like Ray Rice.

Randle's release is also a reminder why Rice isn't signed, and why veterans such as Chris Johnson and Pierre Thomas keeping getting good work. Unless you're a seasoned ball-carrier who fits a specific style of offense, or a younger option with great upside (see Christine Michael), no one will be rushing to acquire you.
Beyond Randle's personal problems, he struggled with ball security. He didn't just power through for the yards that were there (like Murray), but instead looked for the home run. With Rice, his symptoms were typical of fading older backs — too little speed left to offer (unlike Johnson) with too much wear and tear (unlike Thomas).

There are dozens of guys who can do Randle's job, and the Cowboys already have two in McFadden and Michael. As for Hardy, there are only a handful of players in the entire league who have his talent and are in their prime.

So don't laud or applaud the Cowboys for drawing the a so-called hard line with Randle. And it's not just them, many teams would have taken that route, cutting ties with a player like him and not like Hardy.
But by being inconsistent between Randle and Hardy, Dallas took the all-too-familiar easy way out.

Tease.

8:26 p.m. Have poured sulfuric acid in left ear. Trying to find 90 lb. free weights so I can drop them on both ankles. Wife must have moved them again.

Set hair on fire during walk home from train station.

Will poke out eyes shortly.

Come to think of it.... Dallas guys love their guns...

OK, Cowboys fans... or should that be "fan"... time to rally the troops. Since the team hasn't actually done anything in the last 20 years, please take a moment to reflect on when the team was relevant. If the images in your head are in black-and-white, don't worry: there's a reason for that.

Now - today's game is against the Eagles. Poor record, shaky quarterback, and Dez Bryant is playing again. Dez has vowed to TRIPLE his production today and God knows the team can really use that 48 yards. Today is the day. Prediction? Cowboys 28, Eagles 27.

We should also celebrate the fact that no new felonies were uncovered this week, Jerry hasn't said anything REALLY stupid for a change, and in general this just feels like a Cowboys day.

Go Cowboys, and see you in February!

This is getting to be a pretty long list.

Take Heart, Cowboys Nation! We (God knows who "we" are but I'm trying to moderate in the original spirit of this thread) are facing a 3-5 team next week.... and another 3-5 team after that! Our (see note above) record is a little soft this year, but we're about to pick up 2 crucial wins.

Dez boldly promised that we'd run the NFC East - a bold prediction with such a strong division - and gosh darn it, once Tony is back we'll be there!

I'd also like to remind everyone that AT&T Stadium is the #1 most expensive stadium in the entire world, not just in the great country of Texas. And have we mentioned the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders lately? We should have - everyone is jealous of our cheerleaders.

worst fans ever

I hate the Cowboys.  One night I want them to win a game and they can't.

Cheer up Case.  Dallas did win the first two games this year.

Besides, those two pass interference calls on the last drive of the fourth quarter were total BS.  The Boyz never should have been close to the goalposts to be able to tie it--and they still needed the help of the left upright, at that.  So the Eagles' win was justice.

7. Three games into the season, DeMarco Murray has 11 yards for the Eagles.
8. Joseph Randle has 203. My projection is a 1,000+ yard season.

Ah, DeMarco Murray... I wonder if anyone misses him yet?  He SHREDDED the Cowboys in overtime, though to be fair the 'Boys were fairly tuckered out.

I did see that Greg Hardy almost got to the quarterback on that game winning TD throw.  What IS it about the Cowboys where 'almost' is the standard of performance?

But hey, Dez is still back and he's "dominant", according to dallascowboys.com.  And they should know, they're a football dynasty!

I feel like it's my responsibility to keep this thread alive now that all the Cowboys fan aren't posting anymore.  (That's not a typo, by the way... read it again).

And remember, folks, it's no crime to have a team that totally sucks - it's a crime to be so boastful and arrogant about such a mediocre bunch of felons!

Ah, a real Cowboys fan!

I'm doing by best to keep up the Cowboys side of things - but I'm not a real fan.  If I were, I'd probably need Doc and Marty to get in their Delorean and rescue me from the past.

At 2-6 I'm still oddly hopeful about a Cowboys playoff appearance.  As we've all heard, "Once Dez and Romo are back on the field" apparently the Cowboys will be an unstoppable force.  Or something.

And so, as we look forward to playing a 3-5 team next week we are ever hopeful... that someone will suck less than us.  While we are not really part of the team and we don't even have domestic violence charges against us, we still feel like we're a part of the team and we really take these games seriously.  We are not quite ready to start talking about next year (Just think - Romo has the entire off season to heal!) but we're thinking that time is coming soon.

Go Cowboys!  And, as always... See you in February!

How about I drop by on the way home from work and poke your eyes out? What's your address?

Funny, as a San Diego Charger fan I've mostly been apathetic about the Cowboys over the years, but with Jerry Jones, Chris Christie and Greg Hardy on the team, I can't help but be a hater!

nice defense in the OT!....Go Giants!
