Now it's Samantha Bee - What is the Standard for Determining the Response to Offensive Speech?

Maybe the real problem here is with us.  We're getting political policy advice from comedians who we reward for making concise snarky judgmental quips.  It's much easier to make a judgement on a difficult question if we can minimize the other side into absurdity.  We're elevating the wrong people, or at least we're elevating them for the wrong reasons.

Yes, the Republican Party has become pathological. But why?

As a Progressive, I would be hard pressed to label either of the parties "good" but one of them certainly is evil.  I mean, dragging children out of their mother's arms just because they happened to be born on the wrong side of some line on a map?  What sort of **** would support that sort of thing?

I fear I'm working from behind the curve here, so please help me out.

What does Ivanka Trump have to do with the Administration's policy on immigration, generally? And, more specifically, what does she have to do with separating children from their parents?

 To be honest, none of us have a clue what she has to do with anything, but for some reason she has top secret security clearance and has done for a year and a half. 

As to how Sam Bee ties immigration policy to Ivanka, I’d hazard a guess that if you’re asking us, you haven’t seen the show in question.

Ivanka Trump is on the White House employee rolls as an unpaid senior adviser to the president.

She is the mother of three young children.

Presumably, the idea is that a senior adviser to the president who has three young children might have something of value to tell the president about what it means to separate children from their parents.
