Looking for Law Firm to set up LLC

Taking my long time hobby semi-public, so need to set up LLC. Looking for help to make sure that I do this correctly.

I used Legal Zoom also. One thing I found to be a rip off is that they retain themselves as the registered agent for the LLC. So essentially they forward you the NJ annual report document - instead of the state sending it to you directly. I forget what the cost was - but it seemed completely unnecessary.

Not sure what the advantage of LegalZoom is, particularly if you are the sole owner without a partner(s). You can register directly with the state, the treasury department I believe. Whatever info they require, you would need to give to LegalZoom anyway. Not entirely different from applying for a drivers license or a passport - easier, actually. You'll need to have a distinct business name that is not registered already to someone else.

Getting advice and counsel on things like taxes, structuring a partnership with others, that's something else.

Yes, if you are doing it solo it should be fine but if you will have partners, employees, or independent contractors it can get complicated, and you could probably use help. Then you would probably need to consider an operating agreement, contracts, etc.
