There's one in my drawer, but I'm not sure if I've ever used it.  (I think I got it at one of those kitchenware parties.)

In general, I have way too much ... some junky, some duplicates.  But my neighbor just posted on Facebook that her college aged daughter needs stuff for first apartment, so I'm going to let her take what she wants and then probably box the rest up to take to Morrow next summer for their sale (unless I hear of a similar worthy recipient organization that can use it sooner ... anyone know of any such?)

looks like the infamous mango slicer of which sbenois wrote many years ago.

I only cook for 1 to 2, depending on how crazy my son is about what I cooked.

Yeah, then in your case a vacuum sealer would just take up cabinet space

instead of a vacuum sealer, I found vacuum sealable bags that have a valve on them and come with a little battery powered suction device. They work pretty well.

like these, except my pump is battery powered

it seems like a great invention.  But apparently if you're not careful with it you can cause yourself a pretty serious hand injury.  But I guess that's true of any hyper-sharp cutting tool.

oh, and this pepper mill is kind of cool. It's electric, and when you turn it upside down, it automatically starts grinding the pepper.

I'm sure many of you will be in disbelief that it took me this long.  But only in the past three or four years have I learned the value of the silicone spatula.  Turns out that between the silicone spatula, oven gloves and ice trays, I've come to the conclusion that silicone is a miracle substance grin

yes it is. the silicone spatula is my main sauteing tool, and I've got pot holders and ice trays too. plus a cookie baking sheet.

Meh! I didn't really like it.

Devil! I need more devices like I need a hole in the head, but this looks fantastic!

I like it a lot. it's something I use regularly when cooking. which is a lot more than I can say for most of my gadgets.

I got a pair of 'em. Still got all 4 fingers.

I have an awesome scar on my little finger from a mandolin.

 Thanks, but it's still there.

Can someone explain why this is not the dumbest "solution" ever?

Unless every column has the same exact can of stuff, how is it supposed to work if you need the can in the middle?

Maybe the secret is here

https://ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/wall-mounted-can-organizer

Looks nice though.

I prefer my solution, which fits in between my counter and my fridge

I love yours, db, but it would put my fridge into the doorway.  With the horizontal storage, i imagine you would lift the stack above the can you want, and turn the can you want toward vertical?  Or is my notoriously bad geometry/visualization off?

eta, just because i just read it (adjust for inflation?):  Mark Bittman, "A No-Frills Kitchen Still Cooks"  https://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/09/dining/09mini.html?pagewanted=1&ei=5090&en=e39e14cf6af1b0bc&ex=1336363200&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

eta again, everyone would have an opinion about his choices.  Personally, i would not want to do without my cast iron deep skillet (looks like $25 or so online), microwave, and unless counter space was really tight, stand mixer....

Beefaroni?  tongue rolleye

I have that storage unit between my sink and refrigerator and use it for spices. Worthless. I can never find anything!!! Cans may be a better option.

lol

I bought it as an experiment to see what I may have been missing.  I've never had it before. (really. promise.)

To be honest, I'm kind of afraid to eat it.

But thanks for reminding me it was in there.

stop me from buying this. The 21st century veg-o-matic.

I don't think I can. It actually looks really useful. I know I'd lose the settings on those little switches you keep having to turn 360 or 180 or whatever though.

Watch this exciting in-depth review!

This thing has been out for a few years. Surprised I hadn't seen it before.

Yeah, I have a Cuisinart food processor that does most of that but I still want this thing.
