NFL Fourth Quarter Comebacks Career Leaders

Without a QB who ranks No. 7, maybe the Giants never even get in a position to chase Lombardi Trophies. And give Eli credit for his poise in those situations, not to mention in the NYC hotlight, which isn't exactly one of Rivers's strengths.

I think they may have done better.  I love Rivers.  He is as tough as they come and a great QB, just never had a full team around him,

Respectfully,  I might not say never. 2009 team was pretty loaded. Tomlinson, Sproles, Tolbert, Gates, Vincent Jackson, Merriman, Shaun Phillips, Jammer, Weddle, Cromartie, Castillo. Went 13-3 before choking at home to Mark Sanchise Jets.

My memory is not that great but was that the year he played in the playoffs all busted up?  He lost the game but knew they had no shot without him so he kept his mouth shut and played with broken ribs or something?

No, it was 2008 when he played against NE for his shot at the SB.

He had a torn ACL and still went out and played the game.  Nothing but respect for that man even if his playoff record is not that good.

I don't look it as Manning took the team to the SB -- the team took Manning and he was  good enough to be the winning qb.  I think a lot of NLF qb's would have won SB's with those giant teams.

I actually feel like Rivers and Manning are in the same category -- both good qb's but both are not as good as Rodgers, Brady, Brees or Peyton.  Stafford, Ryan, Flacco are all better than Rivers and Manning.

The thing is I think every giant fan would rather have had Marino over Manning even though Marino never won a SB.  There have been lots of average QB's who have been on the winning team.

And to vermont golfer's comment that we will miss Manning when he is gone... I recognize it is time for the giants to end the Manning era and start another one and know full well there will be some very tough years ahead.  But I would rather watch an exciting team with a future than a boring team that is living in the past.

Felt, based on my eye test, that you were short changing Rivers.  The career QB ratings of active QBs seems to back me up.  Notice how low Eli is.   He;s certainly the worst among QBs who have held their starting positions for a long time:

I would not argue your point... But I have said many times Manning is overrated.

And Rivers is obviously better than I give him credit for.

I'm a Jet fan.  To tell you the truth, until this discussion, I assumed Manning had above average career numbers.  The Superbowl beat downs of the Pats - which I adored -  raised his standing in my eyes.  It was like your big brother coming out of the house to beat up the bully.

How do they calculate that passer rating again?

Anyhow, I was likewise surprised that both Eli and Flacco were down so low, however it is calculated.

Not surprised to see Sanchez at the bottom, and Rogers at the top, so there must be some validity to the measure.

Now I need to look up Geno Smith's rating........

It's the same formula used for WAR, except that positional adjustment is substituted with average pigskin psi.

Yeah I don't see McAdoo's lasting much longer after that article.  Its one thing to have a bad season or even in some cases a bad team due to a lack of talent but it's another thing to have players walking off the field and leaving the facility during a practice.

Looks like the owners are going to have to choose between McAdoo and DRC based on DRC ready to clean out his locker.

They have more talent than the Jets but if you can't keep them together you are done.

I am not a big fan of our coach but apparently his players believe in him.  Look at how they are playing off of each other.  The defense gets fired up when the offense moves the ball, I haven't seen them play off each other in quite some time and like I said, there isn't really any superstar talent on the team.

The test is about to hit us starting this week.  Beating the Pats would really have the players believing they can do something this season.

We shall see.

McAdoo's job was saved when OBJ went down with his injury.  The lost season will now be blamed on injuries instead of poor coaching.

When did my Giants become the Cleveland Browns?

Very good and funny. Lol

McAdoo and Reese will be gone after this season.  As will several of the players.  Offense was a mess even before the injuries, QB is well past his prime,  and the defense has given up the lead in three straight games.

fivethirtyeight also had Hillary at 71-29 to win a day before the election, so...

Sooooo, can the Jets pull off this upset today?  It is unlikely, but the team as a whole seems to believe in themselves despite the lack of talent.  A win here would put them in first place and that may be enough to fire them up.

The Giants on the other hand no longer believe in themselves as a team.  The only saving grace for them is - Denver has not looked good the last couple of games and may think they can cruise by this beat up team (both mentally and physically).

Could be a shocker for both games.  But as a Jets fan you know I am going to give my Jets the better shot at pulling off the upset.

Eli finally has an excuse for his 2 to 3 interceptions thrown tonight with all his receivers injured.

Regardless of the outcome of the Jets game that officiating crew should be suspended and maybe even terminated.

I hate people who use bad calls as excuses but these guys made some horrible calls.  But reversing the touchdown to a touchback was probably one of the worst calls ever made in the NFL.

The fact that it was called a touchdown on the field and then overturned is mind blowing.   There was no evidence of a fumble let alone enough to overturn the call on the field.

If you missed the call,  you will see it on every sports channel and all the local news when they cover sports.

It was (a) a bad ruling that was (b) determined at officiating headquarters in New York and (c) not by the field crew, which made the sensible call, so (d) you might want to reconsider your labor management recommendation.

How was that the sensible call? Every commentator I have seen has said it was a very controversial call.  Even some of the officials on the field were in disagreement. 1) He had control of the ball when he crossed the goal line. 2) The ruling on the field was a touchdown. 3) It must be conclusive evidence to overturn the call or they have to either say " the ruling stands as called," or "the ruling has been confirmed."  Where did you see evidence that he fumbled it as he crossed the goal line?  Kudos to you if you are right because I have not heard one commentator say they agreed with it or saw evidence to overturn the call.

And you are correct, the person who decided at the officiating headquarters in NY to overturn the call should be the one suspended.

As I said, the field crew made the sensible call: TD.

I apologize. I read it as the overturning was the sensible call.

Now they are saying he fumbled it a second time and the replay officials were the only ones to see that angle shot.

Apparently the rules say all available broadcast views must be made available to the officials, but not to the public.  So unless they show the angle that caused them to overturn the call we will never know if it exists.
