Games of Thrones - TONIGHT !!

Hah! Haven't seen PP2 yet, but I'll be on the lookout for her when I do. I assume she sings, possibly a nice belty alto? I noticed her speaking voice in GofT.

Concerned about the Sansa storyline and how it will dovetail into the Sansa book storyline. Unclear unless it involves the destruction of House Bolton and Sansa meeting up with Jon Snow somehow

I can't remember now what the Sansa story line was doing by the end in the books. Remind me? I remember her and the little ninny Lord Robert leaving the Aerie in high winds in terror for their lives, but that's the last thing I recall.

Maybe switch to the other thread that doesn't mind spoilers, though. I don't want to ruin things for anyone who is only watching the show.

She's with Little Finger, still hiding her persona publicly and set to be engaged to Harry the Heir, who would inherit the Vale if Little Robert were to die. (Assume LF may kill him in book 6)

Ah, yes. Infinitely more dull than her show trajectory.

I thought the scene between Tyrion and The Mother of Dragon was very interesting. I think we all can agree we saw it coming Tyrion would be one of her advisers. And she needs him, if anyone knows what's going on would be him.

Thoughts ??

Tyrion is just what she needs. He is wiser than anyone else in Westeros that I have seen, and he knows how to navigate VERY tricky waters. Given his upbringing and experience, he knows all Daenerys needs to know about the family dynasties, as he rightly pointed out to her. And he is brave and thinks fast on his feet. I think he will be a huge advantage to her. He has his father's intelligence but far more integrity. Quite an asset.

I'm curious to see what will happen to Ser Jorah now. I'm also very curious to see what will happen with the dragons! They are far from under control at this point, and they don't seem at all trainable. So how will anyone get them to fight for Daenerys?

Interesting point about the Dragons .. And she will need them specially with the White Walkers ..

Poor Ser Jonah, he tried to win her back .. He should of known better.

He loves her, almost to the point of worship. He would do literally anything to impress and/or help her. I think he believes Tyrion will be an asset, but I don't understand why he didn't just approach Tyrion and talk to him. Maybe because Tyrion is a Lannister and Jorah assumed he would have some family loyalty. Hah. His only family loyalty is to Jamie.

Great episode last night !!

I cant believe what Stannis did .. What is wrong with him ? I was glad to see the mother kinda step up.

Last few minutes was awesome !! does anyone knows who are the people in mask ? and why they are so againt The Queen. For a second I was on the edge of my chair, I thought someone was going to die in the arena.

Thoughs ?

I was shocked that Sylese fought to keep Shireen from being killed. She was pretty nasty to her daughter before, although I never really knew why. Because she was a girl (not a son to inherit Stannis' title and carry on the family name)? Because she had grayscale? Anyway, now I wonder whether Sylese will go after Stannis for killing their daughter. And what will the Onion Knight do when he comes back and finds out his idol, Stannis, has killed the girl he (the Onion Knight) loved like a daughter??

Regarding Dany, the men in masks are the Sons of the Harpy, a rebel group that has been lashing out again Dany's warriors, the Unsullied, since they took over the city. Unfortunately, the numbers of the Sons of the Harpy seem to be growing exponentially, and they now might actually outnumber Dany's Unsullied soldiers. The Sons of the Harpy resent Dany for freeing the slaves and changing the city's traditions. That whole scene, by the way, is totally different from what was in the book. Holy cow. Although the essential fact of Dany flying away by herself on Drogon's back is true to the original.

Very, very interesting departures from the book. I'm very glad, actually, that they decided to speed up Tyrion's plot line and have him meet Dany and team up with her. In the book, by this time, he is still acting as part of a dwarf comedy act to amuse people between fighting bouts in the coliseums, and he is essentially a slave still. And in the book, Tyrion and Dany have never met.

The TV show makes a lot more sense, and it keeps the narrative moving along at a good clip. Frankly, the books have become so sluggish I want to bang my head against a wall at times.

Was that the season finale, or is there more to come? We have officially passed the point in the books where anything could match up with Martin's plot lines, so anything could happen to any character now. There are very few characters who are not now past the point where Martin had already written about them.

I have to wonder why he would even bother continuing to write the books, when the TV series has moved past him. And I am enjoying the show more than I ever liked the books. How strange.

Will be very interesting to see how Martin deals with all of this in the next book. Has he told the show writers what his plans are and we're seeing that play out now ahead of time? Or is the show plotting its own course? And if it's the latter, will Martin follow their lead with the book, or will the story now completely diverge in the show and books? Which would be very strange?

He is a co-producer, so I'm sure he is working closely with the writers to make sure they stick to his intentions for the overall trajectory. But, like you, I wonder whether the books will now start following what is in the show, rather than the other way around. Which is why I wonder why he would even bother with the books, since they take years for him to produce.

I read this as well, Martin is working close with the writers and he already told them how the book will end (in case something happens to him). So the writers knows Martin intend on how the book will end, I just dont know if they will follow this in the show.

Exactly !! The mother was very cold with her daughter, so I was surprised to see her wanting to safe her at the end. Stannis sacrificing his daughter for power. I am sure he will regret this. For a moment I really though Stannis was going to back out and safe is daughter.

About Dany, thanks for the explanation. But you are right it seems there is more men in mask. The whole arena was full of it. I really thought someone close to Dany was going to die.

Dany flying her dragon reminded me of the movie "neverending story" cheese

now, how about Arya ?? is she killing mean people in disguise ?

There seems to be an element of justice to the Faceless Men of Braavos. They apparently dole out justice to evil people who would otherwise escape judgment, such as the thin man. But they also seem to help terminally ill people who are in pain and simply wish to die, so there is an element of euthanasia there, too. I don't fully understand them myself. But they do seem to be all about death, which makes them pretty bizarre.

Arya is just beginning to learn their ways; she's in training and still quite young and emotional. Plus, she has her own "hit list" of people who have committed horrible atrocities against her and her family. She was on her way to complete an assigned task by killing the thin man before he could take further advantage of people in need. But first she saw Meryn Trant, who has been on her hit list for a long, long time. So she followed him. Not sure what she will do there, because that's not in the books.

I don't know quite what to make of Arya. She has had a horrible life, no doubt about it, and very few good role models in her recent past. But at times I think she's on her way to becoming a sociopath or even psychopath.

Then again, justice in the world of GRR Martin is a concept that seems to vary from place to place, person to person.

I guess we won't really know until it all comes to pass, but they have made it pretty clear in the press that everyone's intention is for both the books and the show to arrive at the same conclusion. Weiss, Benioff, and GRRM have been very upfront about the fact that the telling of the tale will continue to diverge in minor and major ways, but it will end in the same way. I don't suppose that can be taken as a guarantee, but I also don't think we have any reason to doubt it, either.

For a one hour finale, way too much filler. I need more forward motion, especially with such a truncated season. Now we wait a year??? Crap

It's a must !! If you thought you were shockbefore ., that is nothing for what you will see now ..
