Well you got me there tjohn. I'd say you got me by the balls but I believe you and others know my gender.

Goodell's dog started this (former Jet exec -Mike Kensil) and it probably won't stick because there is no merit to the charges.

The refs checked the balls and handled them on every play.

League owes NE Patriot organization an apology.

Harbaugh is a crybaby who got out coached n Irsay is a known ahole who's team got blasted.

New England against the world brothers and sisters.
In Bill we trust.
Amen.

Wow. This is on par with AJC posts got inaccuracy and false information.

whether they got an advantage from the deflated footballs or not is kinda beside the point. they obviously knew what they were doing, knew that it was against the rules, and did it anyway. i couldn't give two sh1ts about football so i'm not a patriots 'hater'; i'm just saying there are sportsmen and women who have integrity and there are those who do not.

Exactly.

Exactly exactly.

Deflation Experiments Show Patriots May Have a Point After All:

None of the 12 balls that Colts provided were deflated. 11 out of 12 patriots balls were deflated by more than 2 psi.

Maybe the Colts were cheating.

Except that the steelers had a guy named Bell ahead of him on the depth chart so this one is a stretch.

I am having the above framed. I am neither neither modest nor secure. Thank you.

That's because the Colts were trying to set the Patriots up and failed. Their balls were also deflated due to the weather, they knew it, and they pumped them up just prior to half time.

GO Pats! Go Tom Brady, the greatest QB to ever play the game!

NFL head officiating says NFL has no record of the actual weight of the balls ...

I sense an apology coming.

Its a shame. You seem logical in all your non-Patriots posts...

Please. Everyone knows they cheated. We will just wait until after the Super Bowl for Goodell to say something bad about his pal Kraft.

Who was in charge of weighing the offending balls? And did it occur before or after a cold shower?

I think Woot is a hater ... Just saying.

Now we just have to figure out who let the air out of Pete Carroll's head...

Certainly, his balls weren't deflated.

http://www.m*****sports.com/2015/01/bill-belichick-scarface-video.html

"Deflategate" was a lie. The ball that lost 2 psi was the one handed in by the colts equipment manager. It now appears that the club that threw games to get Luck, the club with a drug addict for an owner is in very serious trouble. The league has video of the equipment manager tampering with the ball. Additionally several of the leaks, many of them false, have been traced to Colts management.

I read some of those things ^^^^^ too. It will be interesting to see where this all ends up. I'm not willing to bet that the Pats didn't cheat, but I'm not putting money down that they did, either. I'm truly interested to see what the investigation reveals.

And Jerry Rice said Tom Brady's legacy is tainted by using deflated balls. And now it turns out the balls weren't deflated and Jerry admitted to using stickum after it was banned. Jerry might have only caught 194 or 195 TDs without stickum. His legacy is tainted.

Once again, Roger (I Think I'm God) Goodell has egg on his face ...

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/02/05/hurley-failed-deflategate-accusations-means-its-time-for-irsay-pagano-to-be-banned-from-nfl/

This is getting weirder.

Earlier today, ESPN tried to tar and feather a part time locker room worker for introducing an unauthorized ball into the AFC championship game "for unknown reasons."

Now it turns out he was given the ball by an NFL official who has been selling game day balls for profit for god know how long. He'd been found out and was trying to cover his tracks.

And Roger Goodell makes $35M per year.

http://m.espn.go.com/wireless/story?storyId=12344667

Goodell faces the problem of every manager of a large enterprise--you are only as much in control as the weakest link in your organization allows you to be.

I agree that he has done a stunningly bad job in responding when things go wrong, but I do not see how he can be directly blamed for an NFL official selling game balls for years on end. It is damned near impossible to set up ways to catch something like this provided the ball boys do not rat out the official.

He needs to control the crisis. Instead he's allowed (triggered) leak after leak (wokka); each one contradicting the last. Some poor hump from New Hampshire has his face plastered all over ESPN because of "sources close to the commissioner" and it turns out he was just doing as he was told by a league official.

Then there's the domestic violence.

Ray, here's a slap on the wrist.
Wait - people are upset at the slap on the wrist? Okay - you're banned for life. Because...uhhhh, I didn't know what it looks like when people get punched. But now I do. So you're out. Maybe I should have asked if that CASINO had cameras in the elevator. My bad.

Christ, former players had to start SHOOTING THEMSELVES IN THE CHEST to get the league's attention on head injuries.

He occupies too high a position to operate in such a cloddish manner- only the fact that he makes money hand-over-fist for the NFL owners has protected Roger Goodell from the criticisms that he has earned. If he had been more thorough and deliberate in addressing the recent scandals instead of choosing a duck-and-cover mode, he could have become a model for major sports league management. Now- not so much.

aaaaand now the NFLRA (Refs) wants an apology. Because, of course, ESPN *****ed up yet another story.

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/2015/02/19/nfl-referees-association-demands-espn-apologize-disputes-report/2C8UXT0dl7iGLLbIBW7SZM/story.html?p1=feature_stack_1_hp

The NFL Referees Association demanded an apology from ESPN following a report that a “league official” who handled footballs in the AFC Championship Game had been fired. In a statement released on Thursday, the NFLRA emphatically denied that any “game official” had been fired and demanded ESPN retract reporting by ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.

I seem to recall an old reference to awkward behavior described as "...like a monkey f***ing a football". This whole deflate-gate episode has evolved into a barrel of monkeys...

So Brady's balls are tainted? Aren't everyone's?

It seems to be a very weaselly written report so anyone can believe what they want and the league can do what it wants but it seems that the author definitely thinks Brady had his ball deflated over a long period. And of course the league waited until after the draft when everyone's mind is off football and any draft pick punishment can not be until next year to release it :

Deflategate: Patriots probably deflated footballs, NFL finds Tom Brady was perfect on the drive for New England’s final touchdown. Photograph: Larry W Smith/EPA@bryanagrahamShares399Comments29

An NFL investigation has found “it is more probable than not” that at least two New England Patriots employees improperly deflated footballs in the team’s AFC Championship win over the Indianapolis Colts and that quarterback Tom Brady was “at least generally aware” of the malfeasance.

The 243-page report released on Wednesday was compiled jointly by NFL executive vice-president Jeff Pash and prominent attorney Ted Wells, whose work as independent investigator into the Miami Dolphins bullying incident involving Richie Incognito was roundly praised.

“We nevertheless believe, based on the totality of the evidence, that it is more probable than not that Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities,” the report concludes.

The report highlights an exchange of text messages between Jim McNally, the officials locker room attendant for the Patriots, and John Jastremski, the team’s equipment manager, that suggests the pair worked together to deliberately deflate game balls for New England’s star quarterback.

The team employees “participated in a deliberate effort to release air from Patriots game balls,” according to the report.

McNally, who referred to himself as the “deflator” and stated that he was “not going to espn……..yet”, was involved in a series of communications regarding his impact on the inflation level of New England’s game balls and using an (inflation) needle surrounded by money and sneakers.

The report highlights several text messages between McNally and Jastremski, including the following exchange on 24 October, one day after New England’s 51-23 win over the Chicago Bears:

Jastremski: I have a big needle for u this week

McNally: Better be surrounded by cash and newkicks....or its a rugby sunday

McNally: ***** tom

Jastremski: Maybe u will have some nice size 11s in ur locker

McNally: Tom must really be working your balls hard this week

The report clears Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, owner Robert Kraft and head equpment manager Dave Schoenfeld of any wrongdoing.

“While I respect the independent process of the investigation, the time, effort and resources expended to reach this conclusion are incomprehensible to me,” Kraft said in a 460-word statement addressing the findings. “Knowing that there is no real recourse available, fighting the league and extending this debate would prove to be futile. We understand and greatly respect the responsibility of being one of 32 in this league and, on that basis, we will accept the findings of the report and take the appropriate actions based on those findings as well as any discipline levied by the league.”

The investigation also attempted to assess whether the Patriots introduced a non-approved kicking ball during the AFC Championship Game, further concluding “no deliverate attempt” was made by team employees or New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praised Wells and his colleagues for the “thorough and independent” investigation and said Troy Vincent, the league’s executive vice president for football operations, will determine what discipline the Patriots will face. It’s thought the penalty could include a fine or loss of future draft picks.

“As with other recent matters involving violations of competitive rules, Troy Vincent and his team will consider what steps to take in light of the report, both with respect to possible disciplinary action and to any changes in protocols that are necessary to avoid future incidents of this type,” Goodell said in a statementon Wednesday.

The league is considering discipline for Brady, McNally and Jastremski, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday, citing a source close to the investigation.

Bob Kravitz of WTHR-TV first reported the NFL was looking into the Patriots’ use of under-inflated footballs hours after the Patriots’ 45-7 win over the Colts at Gillette Stadium. NFL spokesman Michael Signora confirmed the investigationthe following day. The rule book mandates game balls must be inflated with between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds of air.

Underinflated balls can help quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers grip the ball better, particularly in adverse weather conditions.

Brady had previously denied any knowledge of direct or indirect tampering with game balls in a high-profile press conference days after the allegations broke.

“I didn’t alter the ball in any way,” the 37-year-old quarterback said. “I’ve always played within the rules. I believe in fair play.”

The Deflategate scandal dominated the news cycle throughout the two-week run-up to Super Bowl XLIX, which saw the Patriots rally for a 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Glendale, Arizona.
