Is it a quick process? y wife has an appointment at the medical offices across the way at noon. Would we be able to go before then? It is 10:30 now.

the process to test is quick-the results may take 24 - 48 hours.  the medical office may be able to get the result quicker.  I assume a PCR test?

Oh, the medical office thing is for something unrelated. We have just gotten notice that we were in the presence of someone who is COVID positive so we wanna get tested. We're doing things with our church this weekend.

When were you exposed? I tested negative yesterday and received a call today that I was exposed Monday. I'll need to retest on Fri/Saturday. This is so maddening.

I was potentially exposed on Sunday afternoon. I don't know the person's identity but this was someone who attended our Summit Chorale concert. I may have been merely a casual contact or close contact but I'm vaccinated/boosted and was masked the whole time. Anyway, from what you've said, we might need to go again tomorrow if today's test was too early.

Maybe just try to do an at home rapid if you can. The need to test due to exposure is constant and seems endless.

Are you guys getting tested every time you’re exposed? Here (Massachusetts) they’re telling us vaccinated folks we only have to get tested if we’re symptomatic.

This is the first time I've been tested in about a year come to think of it. It was just that the chorale does contact tracing for every rehearsal and concert and we finally had a hit. So we went into notification mode. Just to be safe my wife and I got tested since we're going to be busy around the church this weekend.

Do you need to be an Essex County resident in order to get tested in Livingston?

we are- but no one asked us

No one asks at West Orange KMart.

Livingston was pretty straightforward and quick.  We went yesterday.  I'm not sure we will get our results back in time though.  Does anyone know of a rapid test option?

socialist

Friends got tests Wednesday and results today. So 24-48 hours but not sure how Christmas affects that.

I mean…it’s December 24. This is the kind of thing you needed to book 2 weeks ago (or order from Walmart yesterday…place gets a lot of crap but they’re on time).

The results are processed very quickly.  I took a test at 2 pm Thursday and received the results at 9:30 pm Friday.

If I think/know I've been exposed and want to be around family and friends I get tested. If I have no plans to be with people outside of my household I test if I'm symptomatic. I also sometimes must test as a work requirement if I have a suspected exposure.

No, not to get tested, but I believe you do to get vaccinated.

Morris County friends - a family of four - just got boosters at Sears. No Essex connection, and I know them well enough to think it’s not likely they lied. Maybe it’s looser for boosters?

They ask if you live or work in Essex County.

No lying here, either, and they gave a booster to my visiting son, who got his first two shots in the state where he lives year-round while working and attending grad school. They recorded his out-of-state address, but did ask for an Essex zip code. (He had a booster scheduled for the next day at a Walgreens or CVS in Newark but was Christmas shopping at the mall and walked over to the Sears on the chance he could save a trip.)

We were also asked if we live or work in Essex county but it's not hard to imagine that the attendant might have missed asking the question.  Or perhaps they have loosened up on boosters.  As long as there are enough vaccines for county workers and residents, then I don't have a problem with that. We all benefit from more people being vaccinated state/nation/world-wide.

What is the response time for the test?  I got tested at 4 p.m.

i went at 4 pm yesterday. Around 4 pm today I got an email confirming they have it in the lab and I can expect a results email in  24-48 hours. So, 2-3 days seems to be the working timeline.

Mask up, get on a line, & wait...

The CDC will be setting up a massive testing site in New Jersey. Still not certain about location. Could be announced today or tomorrow.
Anyone has any information on this?

My son got tested at the West Orange site on Monday around noon and his results were emailed to him last night, Tuesday, at 11:00PM so that was approximately 35 hours turnaround.

I went to this place last week and waited 90 minutes in my car. IMO the only reason to go here instead of Kmart/Sears is that the also offer a rapid test so you can get both a rapid and PCR.

At 9.30am on the 27th, I went to Livingston Mall, walked in, stopped for about 10 seconds to wait for an open pick up table, got my test, went to the car and was done in 20 minutes.

Got my results back last night at 11.30-ish. Negative, confirming the rapid test results I got on Sunday.
