Above Restaurant Closing, Reopening Under New Management?

will the new "town hall" place ever open.  is litigation still pending from the owners of 75 so ave ( over parking!)

maybe the people looking to put a restaurant there are doing above instead!  there is a rooftop already for the beer garden!

Why do people in South Orange always think the "coming soon" restaurant will always be the "be all-end all".   By the way, I doubt that Landmark Hospitality will actually ever open a restaurant in Village Hall. The real question is what entity will be the beneficiary of the consolidation of all those parking spaces.

why would anyone expect a new restaurant opening to be “meh”? Sounds thrilling.

The openings are always exciting and then patronage drops off.

South Orange is Live Music Capital of North Jersey -- perhaps it can also be "Meh New American / Pub Grub Capital of North Jersey".

I'm not sure I understand your point. Yes, people are excited when a new restaurant opens. That means they have a willing, engaged, excited clientele ready. Patronage drops off in large part because they aren't very good. Either they are overpriced, inconsistent, mediocre food or poor service or the wonderful combination of these. If a restaurant is good, people will continue to come for years. Lorena's is a great example.

Patronage drops off when service and food drop off. There are restaurants I've been going to for decades because the service and food have remained wonderful -- for decades. There is a formula to it and many do get it right.

Agreed. So they’re doing some kind of quick / temporary reboot but bigger-picture they want to unload the joint. Pardon my skepticism but I have my doubts it’ll suddenly be a solid place in 3 weeks’ time, and with no long-term vision....I suspect they just want to get it open in time for Valentine’s Day, and it will be same old same old.

And the article lead...”everybody is abuzz about Above....lol

I found this article confusing but maybe it is the situation that is

I can't imagine a restaurant does a reboot with the eye on a one day holiday.  My family had a restaurant years ago and they closed for two weeks every January to do minor renovations and make any staff changes they felt were needed.

I wish Cuban Petes would open in that space -- could see that working there.

Really?

Ouch! I guess the truth hurts, huh?  cheese

I have a feeling that was a snarky comment about SOPAC, but I could be wrong.

I’m plenty snarky but this was not snark.

Did South Orange pay Trump to promote this music marathon?

Coachella it most assuredly is not.

Was there ever a list of the performers?
