.

my upcoming switch from a king size mattress to two twins in its place, presents a problem: I will no longer need king size fitted bottom sheets (soon gone, my basket of unfoldables smile ) but the king flat sheets will be used. I do not need sets - just twinXL fitted bottoms.

They are widely available in late summer and fall at stores that sell to college kids like Bed Bath and Beyond. You may need to order online and pick up in store at this time of year though.

You can get them anywhere that sheets are sold individually rather than in sets.

Target or Bed, Bath, and Beyond. But, as others mentioned, they might be out by now. If they have any left, they will probably at a good sale price.

Stores like Macys and Bloomingdales that have bed linen departments should have fitted twin sheets year round. There might be limited selection this time of year but they are definitely available. Difficulty might be in finding extra long twin sheets (assume that is what you mean by extra large) at any time of the year but they are available. Most fitted sheets seem to designed to accommodate today's thicker mattresses.

Stores that sell mattresses may also be a source of individually packaged fitted twin size sheets that will fit the mattresses they sell. If these mattresses are relatively new, it should be worth giving the store where you made the purchase a call.

Most stores these days seem to have websites that you can check for availability of what you are looking for prior to going to their brick and mortar location. Checking on line first could save you some time and aggravation.

BB&B came to the rescue!

Husband arrives home (after 60++ days in hospital/rehab) on Wednesday so getting the house ready is keeping me hopping! question shock

just loving our split king adjustable beds question -- but there is sn issue that perhaps has a solution:

The twin fitted sheets are very had to put on and when changing the top or bottom positions, the sheet pops off the mattresses-- the beds are set into a wood bed frame up against each other , so there is little tuck in room.

Any experience or suggestions?

TIA

Purchased a few sets from Target but it was early summer. When I went back to purchase late July, they were out as was BBY. I now order from Amazon. You can also try Groupon. Seen a few there.

They make straps to hold sheets on beds. I have never used them, but it seems like what you would need to fix the problem. If you google "straps to hold sheets on bed" or something like that, you will see lots of options. Read the reviews--some of them are said to be cheaply made and/or difficlut to put on.

Target had some nice xl twin flannels about a week ago.

What Nan said, mtierney. I think those elastic thing-ies are called sheet garters or mattress garters. I bet they would have them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. And I bet expensive Twin XL fitted sheets might have higher quality/more elastic sewn in to the corners. I don't have a bed that goes up and down, but my bargain fitted sheets still come loose. The expensive ones seem to stay put better.

Thinking of you and your husband in his first weeks back home. I hope caregiver spouse is holding up okay.

I believe what you're looking for are deep-pocket twin XL sheets, designed for thicker mattresses. The fitted sheet should have elastic sewn all around the hem, not just at the corners, and all four sides should gather under the mattress.

Even if you don't have an extra-deep mattress, the extra-deep fitted sheets are easier to put on the bed. Put the fitted sheet on diagonal corners (Top right, bottom left, top left, bottom right), rather than working your way around.

I happen to have DreamFit sheets for my deep twin beds. Love them.

thanks all grin

And,Breal, it is one week today since he came home! Won't say it is easy being caregiver-- but having him here with me and his cat is grand!

So glad he made it home. May he remain there with you for a good long time during which he makes a speedy, complete, and long-lasting recovery.

The mattress clips don't work. You need DEEP sheets, I finally caved and bought the sheets specifically for split king. They have sales, best sheets Ive had in a long time, silkly soft. I think it's THE SHEET PEOPLE
