Where to donate. . . .

Guides to colleges, SAT prep books, and the like. Some are a few years old but still serviceable.

I think you will do best to recycle them -- new versions of those come out so often they tend to render previous editions obselete.

I know someone was collecting them a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure that's still the case. I understand what you're saying. On the other hand, they aren't all super-cheap and the information doesn't change much from year to year, so they could possibly be useful for someone who otherwise wouldn't be able to buy them.

CHS library may want them, or perhaps college counseling office.

Those books are snapped up readily where I live. You're right, the information doesn't change much.

Carol Lukoff in South Orange works to distribute books in Orange and East Orange schools. Try her at crlukoff@aol.com.or via FB (you're friends!).

Thanks, j_r. Now that you mention it, I think it was Carol who was collecting them a while back.

The SAT underwent major changes recently (in the last year), so I suspect that old prep books for it are pretty much useless.

True. The SAT stuff I have we got concurrent with the release of the new test. Otherwise, I have books for SAT subject tests, as well as general guides to colleges. Not really sure how I ended up with them all, since, ahem, I don't think my kids ever consulted them, but they must have been handed down to us along the way.

How about: where to donate just a couple of food items? Is there a food pantry drop-off box somewhere? I have just a couple of unopened jars of things that we won't use. I hate to throw them out.

Turns out Carol Lukoff was collecting SAT prep books as a one-time deal and is not interested in any at this point, in case anyone else was also looking to unload some.
