Why not use a small pick up truck that is more efficient than a big truck? As long as the job gets done I dont mind. They pick up my garbage just fine. And I don't have to worry about getting stuck behind them while trying to get somewhere since I can easily go around. Not the same can be said for WM.
I have had it with WM. They tear open my bags to see what's in it and now they only picked up half my garbage. They only came once this week cause of the holiday. They are rude on the phone.
What day does waste industry do bulk?

It is horrible that where they transfer the trash in pool parking lot is right behind the First-Aid squad building. It exhausts deisel fumes into the building and should be stopped. I was at a cub scout event that the FA squad hosted and it smelled and was very loud. Not sure how they are allowed to do that but the watch commander said he gets nowhere to solve this issue.
They did the transfer from the pickup to the big garbage truck in front of our house this week. It seems like a good method--use the little, less gas guzzling truck and then switch it to the big one. However, if they decide to use my house as their new transfer point I will become irate. Hopefully, they will rotate around town.
WI does bulk pickups on the last Saturday of the month.
I've been very happy with their service and, at least when I switched, their pricing was a little better for my needs
Now that I'm home when WM comes on my block, I notice they pull the garbage cans out to the curb to stage them -- and then leave them there after they pick up the trash. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of "back of the house pick-up"?

It doesn't defeat the purpose for me, which is that I don't have to move my cans. (But I use WI, and they pick mine up directly from the rear.) I don't care what they do with it as long as it ends up in the rear where it is supposed to be after the pickup.
However, the township may feel differently if they believe the purpose to be to avoid the sight of cans at the curb. (But if that's the case, then why don't they also do recycling from the rear?)

My point was that they leave the empty cans at the curb and don't return them to the rear of the house.
You should contact the DPW about that -- that is not what the contract calls for, and not what happens in my neighborhood.

I've done that in the past (prior to Calvin Bell) -- nothing changed. I even snapped pictures and e-mailed them! LOL!

In that case, I'm pretty sure that they are in violation and the town should enforce the rules on them. I thought you meant that during the delivery period (a bit before and after pickup) the cans were out there. My mistake.

i think i live near you on Oakland and they leave my cans on the curb...that is, if they take my trash at all.

Wierd. They never take my cans down. They come to the back with a larger tub and haul it out.
