US Army Field Band

Hi All,

Haven't posted in awhile.

Enjoyed the musicianship of this talented group tonight.

Having spent much of Saturday watching and hearing of a truly great military man, was feeling sad about our country and for our country.

Mixed feelings tonight.  Not too sure I really enjoyed our tax dollars doing PR for our military.  Yes, I got to stand during my service song.  Yes, many enjoyed clapping along to those tunes, yet...

Our country last a true hero yesterday.

It just didn't feel right to me to be out singing patriotic hymns.

I know, it's complicated but our tax dollars being used to make us happy and proud about our military?  Our HS students playing along...  GREAT P.R.

Feeling sad.

Best Regards,

Ron Carter

Who did we lose yesterday?   We live in the greatest country in the world.  Singing patriotic songs reflects our gratitude for that.   Our military assures that evil empires like the Chinese, Russians, etc do not have free reign to completely dominate huge parts of the planet.

I guess it wasn't facetious.

The Chinese empire?

The next war isn't going to be fought with planes and tanks and ships. It is going to be fought with computers and we are already losing bigly.

It was a perfect evening and a perfect setting for the Army Field Band and Chorus Concert.  The music was primarily taken from musicals and motion picture themes.  Including musicians from CHS was a nice touch.  There was some brief military history explaining story lines in well known films.  I didn't hear anything that glorified the military.  No recruitment table was in view.  The crowd was very large considering the holiday weekend and the five hours of music at Porch Fest which preceded it.  Everyone around me seemed to be having a really good time.  Thank you to the organizers and performers for a really good event.

There are wonderful photos at the FB page of Stainfill Studios

tried to paste the link...

It was a lovely and tasteful event. Seeing the veterans and families of those that served was a reminder of their sacrifice.
