well, there was George Berkeley (universally loved) and family, but I’m not sure if they’ve retired or moved away now.
And Brothers Ross, of course!

George is very much a part of this community- he owns the UPS store in South Orange, and employs at least one frequent MOL poster!
How about Fishy? I know he’s still local but can’t remember seeing a post in a long time.

But he sold the store

In my visits since then, it didn’t appear to miss a beat.
On the other hand, I’ll add two more names to this list: Judy and Leroy Church.
And in the non-business, MOL fraternity division:
Allan Tumolillo
Joan Crystal
The poster directly above me seems to have reached a pinnacle of admiration, too, especially when clouds form on the horizon.
It's going to be a short list because with social media, we can nearly always read someone complaining about almost anything. But I think you'd get a pretty good consensus that Arturo's is something pretty unique and irreplaceable. (Although it's changed considerably in the time we've lived in Maplewood).
I'd also miss the Park Wood

Rent Party.
What happened to Rent Party?
Nothing is forever. As an Iggles fan, I already miss Daniel Jones.

It moved to the Woodland. Hasn’t been fun since. Edited to add, just my opinion, of course. Most people love the venue change, but I enjoyed hanging out and chatting with people/playing pool and stuff at the Elks' Lodge.
Ok Ok Maybe not THE most memorable but the Matzoh Charlotte thread was pretty darn cool, IMHO. Can't find the original but here is a commentary from more than 10 years ago! https://maplewood.worldwebs.com/forums/discussion/matzo-charlotte-anyone
Listen to me, Jerry Buckingham -- you cannot retire until I die or leave town. I can't function in my Maplewood home without you!

This makes me realize (or remember) that the archives have gone missing. Is there anyway to access them again? Jamie????

I asked last year if we could revive the 9ll threads. I was told they were no longer available.
Dave, I can't see any labelling on those crates...? (The former librarian/indexer in me is trying not to speak up too loudly)

If we had access to the archives, oh imagine the things we would find.
the archive goes back far enough that I found discussions that I don't even remember starting. Most of them are incredibly silly (although intentionally so)

Replaceable by a building that services senior citizens or those in need of affordable housing.. Not replaceable by a building that features 2 bedroom apartments that rent for $4200.00 a month.

I believe Jerry's son will take over the business.
I’ve had Jerry’s son come a few times and it was the same good service, so I hope and assume this will be the case.
The thread about exterminator recommendations raised a question in my mind. What happens when Jerry Buckingham retires? His name is the one name that consistently comes up when people ask for a recommendation. It seems he will leave a big hole when he goes.
Who (or what) else around town has this kind of high universal acclaim? Maybe One Stop Repairs.
I know there are plenty of high quality businesses but, for instance, if you ask for a plumber or electrician you'll get several recommendations. And heaven forbid you ask who has the best pizza!
Are there other people or businesses that have reached this pinnacle of local admiration?
