Today 1-4 p.m. Gingerbread House Contest Display & Other Holiday Season Happenings at Durand-Hedden
We had fun looking at all the gingerbread houses, making ornaments, and touring the house. Thanks for running these fun AND educational events!
I also appreciated the information given about there having been slaves in the residence. That is a subject that many try to forget or leave out when teaching the history of local places, but it wouldn't be an honest history if it didn't include the ugly parts also. Many people don't realize that we had slavery right here in New Jersey, right up until the Emancipation Proclamation.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming cooking event in January. That was a big hit with my kids last year.

Kids, Families, Adults! Celebrate the season at the Durand-Hedden House, on December 11 from 1 to 4 p.m">p.m. The creative entries of the 2016 Durand-Hedden Gingerbread House competition (our 4th year) will be on display (as well as on December 17 and 18 (at the Country Store) and at the Hilton Library December 19 through January 17.) Contestants must enter by December 9. (See this website for details and an entry form. Please note that a Little Ones category has been added this year.) On the 11th also bring a camera to catch a photo of your children with a live Victorian Santa.
