The something other than deafening cause we are over that silence on NJIT getting a conference

pretty pathetic that a northeastern division 1 team has to join a predominantly Floridian conference.

NJIT is fairly new to Division 1 are are still getting their facilities up to par as well. Where exactly were you hoping they would find a spot? I'm glad they finally have a place to call home. If they continue to improve, and from what we have seen so far that will not change anytime soon, they should be able to put themselves into a position to eventually move to a conference better suited to their geographic location.

With their new found home they are at least in a position to quality for the NCAA tournament. This is something that would never happen had they remained independent. This is all part of their building process.

Absolutely pretty pathetic on the parts of the NEC and America East, but there has been some good write ups on how the fit with the Atlantic Sun can work.

NJIT was in Great West with teams like Texas PanAmerican, Utah Valley, Chicago State, and the Dakotas so Florida will probably be a joy easy flight out of Newark plus same time zone. Travel budget will also go down since they won't have to be crossing the country and living on the road just to get games.

What about the MAAC?

It seems silly that a public university will spend hundreds of thousands per year on travel when there are more appropriate conferences in the region.

It's possible that St. Peter's would have a veto over a new conference member so close to them.

Agree to a point, just look how much money Rutgers is wasting and losing in the Big Ten. Despite their claims to the contrary that the Big Ten money will offset things it won't. NJIT is a little different though because they are just starting out at the D1 level. They need a home somewhere in order to get access to certain things, namely conference championships that will lead to NCAA bids. I doubt they are longtime members of the Atlantic Sun. Rutgers however hopes to be a long time member of the Big Ten. Rutgers was perfectly suited for the Atlantic 10 which is where they should have stayed.
