The NYT Spelling Bee Thread

I needed a hint for "utility" of all things as the last word. I suppose if I stared at it longer I would have got it.

I did. It's kind of freeing. 

Good day to go for it! My son got QB a couple of days ago so I went for it today. The limitation of one vowel actually helps, I think. 

Missed it by one. "Entente"

Congrats from me too. I'm stuck at 3 short of QB today.

Since the start of the New Year, no QBs, but I've been close a bunch of times. I'm -3 today so far and not feeling hopeful.

Three short is where I ended: babka, cockatoo and kabob. Oh well.

QB yesterday.  Took me a while to get the last few words. My very last word was buttock.

I've been in a slump the past few weeks so it was a nice change.

Congratulations! I have not been doing very well either lately.

I missed it yesterday. It's kind of weird because I've been doing really well the past few weeks, but coming up just a couple words short a lot of days.

Today, I'll be lucky if I get genius. Busy work day and a three day migraine will do that. (No sympathy necessary. Just causes brain fog... ) 

Feeling aggrieved that egality is not included in today's Bee.

some days I just lose interest in going forward. Yesterday I got to Genius, but was about 10-11 words short of the QB. I didn't have the drive to find ten more words. But when I saw the solution today, they were all very common words. Maybe I should have persevered.

Today might be a day to go for it. Not a huge number of words, and I'm commuting to the city today, so I'll have some down time on the train.

Finally got QB today.  I think I know which word you are referring to because one of my words was a total guess.

I'm 2 short and feeling doubtful

I missed habitat and hubbub. Absolutely should have had the QB yesterday. Sometimes the words just don't appear no matter how long I look at the puzzle.

you and me both...except I missed 3 yesterday and today I'm again 3 short of QB.

hubbub eh - looked for that one for a long time, don't think i would ever have thought of if

I'm pretty good at SB. I get to Genius nearly every day. But I have to admit to myself that getting a QB without the hints is going to be EXTREMELY rare for me. If I really want to get QB I could use the hints. When I did I'd get it a couple of times a week. But the folks here convinced me it's not enough of a challenge

I'll console myself with this. For some reason the NYT kept showing yesterday's puzzle on my desktop.  So I figured, why not?
