Tablet Purchase: Windows 10 or Android?

I’m contemplating getting a tablet and wondering what everyone’s opinion is on whether to get a Windows 10 tablet or a regular Android tablet?

I like the “laptop replacement” characteristics of the windows 10 tablet in addition to reading that you can use an emulator to play either Apple or Android apps. The only negative I see is the price.

With the android tablets, there is a wide range from low end to high end tablets which will essentially do the same thing.

If I only intended to watch videos and play a few games then obviously an android tablet would do, but my laptop is close to 10 years old so I'm due to replace it which is making me consider a Surface Pro.

Thoughts?

I have an android tablet for surfing the web, reading books and the like.  It's really great.  The Surface tablets are awesome if you want a laptop replacement.  If you need to use office apps, etc the Surface is a really really good choice IMO.

My initial focus was simply getting an android tablet but then I started taking into consideration the quality of the tablets because I figure I will use it at least 3+ years. Which lead me to looking at the high priced Sony tablets. Very high quality built tablets and from what I read, the only issue is that they are not always available in the US and some versions (wifi only vs LTE) is hard to get. However they are like 600 to 700, which for a few $100 more, I could get a full fledged laptop replacement in a Surface Pro.

In the interim, I just picked up the Amazon Fire tablet on sale for $39. That's the "ad" sponsered version but I was reading its relatively easy to get into Super User mode and disable that.

I got a Samsung Tab Pro a couple of years ago. It holds up quite well.  I think I paid about $300 for it.  I use it every day for commuting/surfing.   When I commute, I just use my phone as a hotspot.  Still going on strong.  Very happy with the purchase.

I don't know much about the sony's.  However, I have seen the surface pro's and if they are in your budget and you will use it more than just surfing, etc I think you will likely be happy with it.
