I have no horse in this race, so I objectively ask: how can Hogan and Edelman be blocking their defenders immediately off the line as the ball is in the air to Amendola on the 2-point conversion? Shouldn't that be offensive pass interference on BOTH of them???

Yes, he's a winner. Yes, he's an incredible QB. But he's a lot of other things also and I find him icky. No horse in the game either- just would love to see him lose.

Well, with the Giants not playing, I said the Pats had a chance, but I'm still stunned after a 28-3 deficit.

Stunning it was. I think Atlanta slowed down, thinking they had it. They must have forgotten who they were playing. This is the first time I've felt genuine joy since Nov 8th. Unbelievable.

The great thing about that game is that I got the sense that we will see Atlanta again and again. Those good young defenders got tired because they were out there so much, but that is a good team. New England I think is one of the best run franchises in sports. Brady is special, but they have a very good team around him, and a good system. And I don't even like them.

Maybe you could make that argument for Edelman, but Hogan was pretty clearly being jammed by the defender.

It only takes one person to commit a penalty.

Three of the four conference final teams, including both Superbowl teams, from last year did not even make the playoffs this year. As the season ended all of them were thought to have promising futures but events of varying type intervened. That is why in the NFL you need to take advantage of your opportunities. You can not assume you will pick up where your were last year.

Plus a stinging loss has lasting impact. The Seahawks have never quite been the same since their loss to the Patriots two years ago.

All of which makes the hated Patriots consistency so much more impressive. Though of course having six games every year against the Jets, Dolphins and Bills has helped them out through the years. It has not been a competitive division for a long time.

when was the last time a team turned two consecutive two point conversions - much less in the Super Bowl?

I think that was the most remarkable thing in this game.

No way that guy (don't know his name) could have made a play on the ball. It was in the air when they made contact. I'm not sure if there's another flag that could be thrown, but it wasn't PI

I'm not sure the general "could defender make a play" applies here -- blocking while the ball is in the air is usually treated like a pick play, even though it's identified as offensive pass interference.

This isn't a big thing to me, just caught my eye as something that is sometimes called. Would've resulted in offsetting penalties and a re-do with no change in yardage, and Pats certainly could've scored anyway. Again, no big thing.

The Bills, Jets and Dolphins all have the same opportunities to create quality teams, but they suck.

The Patriots are the best team in Football - Best Team Ever, better than the Cowboys (hated by many, including most people in America - ABC), better than the Giants (whom I like), and better than the rest of league.... And, yes the Giants beat them in the Superbowl, but the 5 v 2...

Somebody is going to make a movie out of the Patriots Superbowl comeback? Well, I guess if the budget isn't to steep...
