It's actually the opposite. Putin wants Ukraine to be neutral because of national security. Trump wants Greenland because of international aggression.

People who aren't up to speed on the pro-Putin arguments you've posted in the "What Does Putin Want" thread may not be able to follow the "logic" of the alleged distinction.

They should get up to speed since it might lead to WWIII and it was easily avoidable. Trump's desire to grab Greenland is also easily avoidable and totally a joke if only he was not serious.
Both of these conflicts involve US presidents who think they still run the world and can push everyone around. This will be our downfall.

It's irrelevant to the question asked by the person who started this thread. There are people who both oppose Putin's invasion of Ukraine, but also support Trump's ranting about taking over Greenland. The OP is noting the cognitive dissonance/hypocrisy of holding both positions.
Using Russian propaganda and ranting about "YOU'RE GOING TO CAUSE WORLD WAR THREE AND WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE BECAUSE PUTIN WILL NUKE US!!!" to say that there's no hypocrisy, isn't an argument for this thread. That's for the Russia room.

I agree the Russia conversation should stay in the proper thread but who supports Trump taking Greenland?

It's easy enough to find out.
What arguments do we have for annexing Greenland? It’s just sitting there doing nothing with roughly twice the population as Maplewood. Vague statements about Russian and Chinese ships on their coast. As if Russian and Chinese ships aren’t all over the world.
This could be more flooding the news with outrageous BS to distract from real issues. Both Trump administrations have taken seeming delight in doing so. It is an effective tactic for inciting rage and pulling focus from things like employment numbers.
This could be a genuine plan to try and seize a landmass and its resources. As the planet warms the ice sheet on Greenland is going to melt and expose a lot of land that’s potentially exploitable. Who gets that land? The resources? (If Greenland’s ice melts away, it’s a sign of really big problems, and worse to come as the CO2 and Methane trapped in the permafrost gets released and adds to the greenhouse effect, but nobody in charge cares).
Who would benefit from the huge diplomatic stress this is causing between the United States of Trump and Denmark?

It's basically a "Trumpschluss".
There are also no real parallels between this kind of aggression and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. I don’t want to engage in the Russian-Ukraine debate, but Putin makes claims about ethnic Russians living in the area as well as historical borders. You can say what you want about those arguments, but they follow some kind of logic that Putin can sell to the willing and naive.
The US has literally no such fictional claim to Greenland. There is no population of US citizens living there. We’ve never had any territorial stake in the island. Denmark has zero motivation to make a deal that lets us have Greenland. Would we really try to take it by force? Would Congress finally take a stand and say “no you can’t invade Greenland and if you try you’ll be removed from office”. Again this points me toward the theory that this is a stupid distraction.
And maybe it’s the Stephen Millers of the world just winding Trump up and letting him rant about something, knowing he’s too feeble-minded to see that he’s being manipulated. It keeps our eyes off of the shadow government that’s actually running things behind the scenes.
An interesting interview with an expert on Artic politics explaining Trump's interest in Greenland.

Thanks for that link. I read 3 Danish newspapers each day, currently they are less than objective on this issue.

Ingen kan bebrejde dem (Nobody can blame them).
Maybe… just maybe… trump made a deal with Putin. He lets Putin do as he pleases… and Putin let’s trump do as he pleases…Trump invades Venezuela and Putin turns a blind eye, since trump has turned a blind eye on Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. They’re both looking out for their National security right?
With current events in mind, I wonder whether he promised Putin to dismantle NATO?

I wrote that as somewhat of a joke. Today he invited Putin to join the Gaza 'Peace Panel'.

That was very informative, and funny.

(Bloomberg) — Donald Trump linked his claims on Greenland to not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in a letter the US president sent to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.
“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace,” Trump says in the letter obtained by Bloomberg. “Although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America.”

In reality nothing changed of course, he was and is focused purely on himself. And if you are only focused on stuffing your own pockets, the affordability crisis isn't getting better (even though it's a hoax and a made-up word).

At this point, any responsible VP would invoke the 25th Amendment.
Currently an oxymoron
Invoking the 25th Amendment would simply replace Trump with Vance - ie not a workable solution.
It's Article 2, Section 4 of the Constitution you should be aiming for ...
Not sure if anyone mentioned it - but what are the odds he wants to rename Greenland - Trumpland?

If America does take ownership of Greenland (please, no) Trump is 100% changing the name.
Here are some more predictions:
America Land
Island of America
Melania Island
MAGAland
Make America Great Island
Trump Island
Greatland

When Putin wants Ukraine, it is international aggression.
When Trump wants Greenland, it is national security.
Can someone please explain the difference to me?
