I dare anyone to find one kind thing I have ever said about Melania so this is as close as I get. Her new book as well as a new video, states her unequivocal support for a woman's right to choose. Her video My body, my choice is on X. I listened to her statements on abortion rights on Morning Joe today. Of course there are plenty of comments speculating on the moment that she comes out to announce her support of Kamala Harris.
unless she leaves the Donald and becomes a Democrat this means next to nothing.
I think Melania Trump has a jacket which sums up the reaction of a lot of people to this. "I really don't care, do you?"

She probably doesn't want to be back in the White House, because then she'd have to pretend again that she gives a f*ck about Christmas stuff and decorations.
Makes her spouse look good to somebody. At the risk of exhibiting excess ill-feeling, all about the benjamins.
Well, to everyone, I agree with the sentiments. But. I hoped that those Republicans who liked her, women in particular, might have the courage to skip voting for Trump. Might they rationalize that if even his wife thinks any limits, even late term are not for the government to decide that he is not their guy? She goes so far as to argue that late term is extremely rare which is contrary to her husband's talking point.
I'm not suggesting we send her any Valentine's just saying it might sway the votes of those who feel this is their main issue.
Can I hang on to that small hope? No?
Whew, tough crowd.

Just hoping it will be heard by those who want T to take a hard line against abortion and turn them away from him. And not heard by those who've heard him waffling lately and like his new "moderate" line on this.
There wasn't enough ketchup at Mar-a-Lago for Donald to throw after this went viral.
The views of the First Ladies have often been used to "soften" the image of their President husbands. Instead of seeing Mrs. Trump's statement as breaking with Donald, it's just as likely to be an attempt to "soften" (if that's possible) his image with undecideds who wonder if his position on abortion goes too far for them.

the word "alleged" belongs in the thread title.
Writing it in her book might not make a big difference, but, the clip I saw of the video made me feel that she was trying to distance herself from his stance or cause a rift among the GOP. Forgiving late term abortion among the opposition is a line in the sand.
Again, she stood next to him, basked in the limelight, so I've never liked or excused her. And I posted that insensitive jacket stunt everywhere. Whatever her motives, it had to infuriate him, which is delightful. But her specific words about late term abortion cuts deep into the main GOP talking point and is a regular Trump argument.
More than any aspect of the abortion topic, the phrase "late term" raises the temperature in any argument and she is clear that it is rare and even at that the government has not right to tell a woman what to do with her body.

Did you see the video? I only saw a clip. And heard an excerpt from the book.

fair enough. I just assume everything she says is done in self-serving bad faith. But I haven't seen the clip you're referring to.
