Lincoln Chafee in the ring

My general impression is that Lincoln Chafee would be a good candidate. Comments anyone?

On Real Time a few weeks ago, he appeared easily flustered and vague when talking about foreign policy.

Can this put an end to the silly meme that there are no Democratic challengers to Hillary Clinton? There are now 4 Democrats running for president.

He's only been a Democrat for 2 years.

Joe Lieberman lost a Democratic Primary, ran as an Independent and won. He remained part of the Democratic caucus and never left the Democratic Party.

Lincoln Chafee was a Republican Senator as was, I think, his father. He quit the Republican Party and became a Democrat.

Joe went a bit far to the right. While he caucused with the Democrats, he was hardly reliable on issues that tend to be important to Democrats.

I saw him on MSNBC tonight. He had talked in his announcement about how he wanted to disengage with the Mideast militarily. So Chris Hayes asked him whether that meant he would stop the bombing of ISIS. He said he'd "dialogue with" the parties in the area and do what they wanted. Chris Hayes pointed out that they want different things, and Chaffee didn't seem to have an answer to that.

Exactly what I saw on Real Time. He had his talking points and was unable to improvise them into regular questioning, and was unable to answer any challenges to the talking points without stuttering then saying the talking points again. He's Palining it right now.

At least Sanders, when he has a talking point is able to ignore direct questions and start off all his answers with his own questions which his talking points then answer. It's a much better rhetorical strategy.

A really weak response to a question he should have anticipated. I think this a lark for him.

Now that is an issue everyone cares about.

Is Linc a gem, or what? He's got that starry-eyed look on his face all the time. Little Rhody is proud of him. But I'm too damned old to learn the metric system and I remember the last effort.

It's pretty easy once you've figured out what a 1 and a 0 is.

Though, back in my younger days, I did learn what a kilo was...don't remember why.

Yes, we do, because a half liter is too small and a liter is too big. However, our pints are bigger. US pints are actually just under a half-liter.

I hear more Brits talking about people's heights in centimeters and weight in kilos now than when I was a kid and it was all feet and inches and stones. Don't get me started on the Fahrenheit thing, no one over there remembers what 80 degrees feels like anymore.

At least you don't have think of things in stones.

As you point out, the UK is all over the place on metrics. They talk about miles and Kilometers. Gas efficiency is still discussed as MPG even though it is sold in liters. People discuss how many stones they weigh... It's a mess.
