There were attempts to name the place the Duchy of Grand Fenwick but they drew immediate
negative vibes from the estate of Leonard Wibberly
Seriously.............the number of citizens is quite limited right now. Two Hundred Thousand have applied
for citizenship. Open border policy......no Passports needed.
Sounds fun all, but Croatia won't let you in and it's pretty much just a swamp, so they have a ways to go.
Actually access via the Danube doesn't seem to work either...

Why should one have to apply for citizenship? Sounds a little Big Brother-ish to me...
I'm pretty sure if you can get there they'll give you citizenship. Unfortunately for them, the closest they are to their country is a campsite in Serbia. So far Burning Man passes more soverignty tests than Liberland.
I really wish we could find a real country to give over to libertarianism. They could change their name to Lord of the Fliestan

Are they going to privatize the Danube?
no. but no stinkin' statist is going to tell them they can't dump anything they damn please in it.
Isn't that where WWI started?
OK, I know it was Sarajevo--stood in a sidewalk cast of Princip's footsteps once.

It could never compete with your Douchebagistan.
In The Dispossessed the author, Ursula LeGuin, creates a totally anarchistic society, but it's on its own planet.

Liberland, officially the Free Republic of Liberland (Czech: Svobodná republika Liberland), is a self-proclaimed micronation claiming a parcel of land on the western bank of the Danube river between Croatia and Serbia, sharing a land border with the former. It was proclaimed on 13 April 2015 by Czech libertarian politician and activist Vít Jedlička.
