Children born in the US being denied birth certificates in Texas

Children of illegal immigrants, who have been born in the US, are being denied birth certificates.

"Women are unable to enroll their children in school or daycare without a birth certificate, or to authorize their child to be treated in a medical emergency. “It causes all kinds of problems,” Harbury says. “How is a woman going to prove she’s the child’s parent without a birth certificate?”

Since filing the lawsuit in late May, Harbury says they’ve received dozens of calls from women who have been refused birth certificates for their children: “The phones have been ringing off the hook.” Recently, they filed an amended lawsuit with several more plaintiffs."

This is insane! Aside from all of the obvious problems the article points out, I also can't see how the women can ever try to take their children back to their country of origin (if they wanted to) without a birth certificate and other related documentation.

I have a friend who is an activist attorney in Texas (and very busy right now suing county clerks who won't give marriage licenses to same-sex couples.) I'm asking her what she knows about this.

I say we have to invade. The troops are already there doing war games. These insurrections need to be put down quickly.

They're trying to do it using matricula consular so take it up with the FBI, who said they're tremendously vulnerable to abuse and falsification, or the TSA and every fed agency that refuses to allow them to be used for any meaningful purpose- can't fly with them, can't register for welfare with them, can't get a credit card with them, so I can't imagine why they should be valid for claiming parentage of a child. A foreign passport or in some states even a driver's license is available to those here illegally. Citizens have to provide proper documentation. Should non citizens be held to a lesser standard?

Are the mothers being denied birth certificates in the imediate aftermath of birth; or are they being denied certificates at some later time? I've not yet read the complaint.

Thanks for any help.
