Strzok being grilled. Things getting rowdy.

You've got to love Nadler. Goodlatte is threatening Strzok with contempt. Nadler and Goodlatte arguing. Gowdy as aggressive as usual. And a fair amount if congressman shouting from the sidelines.

eta - Not meant to preempt Morganna's excellent reporting.  grin

Wild doesn't begin to describe it.

oops, didn't mean to pre -empt everything with my own thread

This is a pretty interesting hearing. Strzok just gave an applause-raising rant about how the FBI is being disparaged by the line of questioning.

Obviously Trey Gowdy and Goodlatte are bleeding through their eyes and salivating, canines glaring as they sniff around Strzok. This is an amazing embarrassment to our nation. I hope you are watching. This is the Dreyfus Affair US style. Shows we are inside a fascist state. And you should have heard the response Strzok gave to the badgering pest of Gowdy. It was brilliant, and worth the wait through the garbage of Gowdy and Goodlatte.

I think Goodlatte is a bit weak on his parliamentary procedure - Nadler had him going in circles.

Now they're taking a series of votes, but I don't know about what.

They are voting whether to overrule an objection to Goodlatte. They are not overruling Goodlatte. The vote was 38.to 31 upholding Goodlatte.

Or maybe it was just one vote - looks like a huge committee.

"Peter Strzok Is a Sideshow To Information That Directly Implicates the President."

"On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a public shaming of Peter Strzok, in yet another attempt to prove that the Mueller investigation is hopelessly tainted by Strzok’s belief — shared at the time by Republicans Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz — that Donald Trump is “an opportunist” who is “not fit to be President of the United States” and “Donald Trump can’t be trusted with common sense. Why would we trust him in the White House?”

But Strzok and his testimony is, in significant respect, a sideshow to evidence that directly implicates Donald Trump.

I say that based on the following information related to my own interview with the FBI.

  • DOJ probably used a clean team with me to ensure it shared nothing it already knew with me
  • Peter Strzok had no connection to my interview
  • Information I provided would change the importance of evidence otherwise obtained publicly"

it was an excuse to get their act together after the emtional blather of Gowdy.

Yes, he is a fine example of the best of the FBI.

He is articulate and credible, honorable and forthright.

Strzok's nose is growing.  Muller removed him because the carpets were dirty.

I think he"s just embarrassed that Strzok is responding so well to their ridiculous, infantile, hyperemotional comments.

Let's break things up with a mugshot of Dear Leader's former Campaign Chair.

Release the transcript!

Nadler referred to the release by the Senate Intelligence Committee on July 3 of its agreement with the Intelligence Community's assessment of Russian interference in the election and that Putin was trying to help Trump win.

 Yes, she is doing that.

I agree with an MSNBC commentator that this is looking like a McCarthy hearing.

And while I was grinding coffee beans, nice job by Ms. Lee, getting that cast of indicted characters in the records.

Meanwhile:

"H.E. Donald J. Trump President United States of America

Your Excellency Mr. President,

The significant first meeting with Your Excellency and the joint statement that we signed together in Singapore 24 days ago was indeed the start of a meaningful journey.

I deeply appreciate the energetic and extraordinary efforts made by Your Excellency Mr. President for the improvement of relations between the two countries and the faithful implementation of the joint statement.

I firmly believe that the strong will, sincere efforts and unique approach of myself and Your Excellency Mr. President aimed at opening up a new future between the DPRK and the U.S. will surely come to fruition.

Wishing that the invariable trust and confidence in Your Excellency Mr. President will be further strengthened in the future process of taking practical actions, I extend my conviction that the epochal progress in promoting the DPRK-U.S. relations will bring our next meeting forward.

Kim Jong Un Chairman of the State Affairs Commission Democratic People's Republic of Korea

Pyongyang, July 6, 2018"

I wish, I wish, that someone, anyone on my TV would raise the rather obvious question of how can the Republicans on this committee possibly run an honest, un-biased investigation, given their clear political biases?

Fleshed out with some juicy quotes of what some of them might have said about Trump during the primaries.

This is such a stupid sideshow.
