For a modest back-door storm door, same brand/size as the previous door (so no shimming/adjusting), and in Wisconsin, not Jersey, we paid about $400 altogether, so your quote doesn't seem way out of range. Just imo.
Worth getting a second quote, though, also imo.
Please share the name of the contractor as I've gotten much higher quotes.
We used Jaeger on our storm door. It was pricey, but they don't sub work out. Very happy with result.
We also used Jaeger. Our storm door was very difficult to install. They happily came back three times to adjust it. Would highly recommend them.

There are certain dimensions that are standard sizes = lower cost for the door (and often stock in local stores). Other dimensions are special order = higher cost and longer lead time. With shims & sealing, it is not unreasonable.
wow. Such great information Thanks everyone. Yes it is Jaeger. Looks like I will be going with them. Thanks!
Yes, I think it is a reasonable cost. Recently , I visited one of my colleague's home, he had impact doors Miami installed in almost the same price. They look beautiful with the decor and good for security also as they are impact resistant so good protection from environmental hazards.
thanks everyone. I went with Jaeger. Great job no adjustments needed. Very happy with the work

hi. I got a quote from a small business for 2 storm doors and installation for $1600!!!! Top of line doors and they need shimming to fit doorway but this seems steep. Does this sound reasonable?
