Cool. Gave me a flashback to 1996-97, when I used to go out in front of my house in the evening to look at comet Hale-Bopp.
Hell, I'll beat that. In 1957, my friend Edgar and I were on the corner of Mechanic and Main in Millburn, watching Sputnik. The Newark Evening News posted the time and we were out on a cold October evening watching it.
I also used to watch Captain Video and the Video Ranger on Channel 5, Dumont Television Network.
I think I saw it, a very bright "star" moving very quickly through the sky, from southwest to northeast--it got lost behind some trees further north, but it was very cool to see it for the short time that I did. Thanks for posting about this, jerseyjack!
