Someone tell me when all the repaving is done

First let me say how happy I am that major roads around here are getting milled and repaved. There’s been so much patchwork to temporarily fix the poor condition of some of our thoroughfares. It’s great to see a much more permanent fix happening.

But oh my stars and garters! It seems like every time I turn a corner I find myself on a milled surface going 10 mph trying to avoid destroying a tire on a utility cover! I know it will be over soon but I think I want to just stay home until it’s done.  oh oh

As soon as we are done weeding our gardens

As soon as it’s done, PSE&G or NJ American will rip it up for “unplanned” repairs.

since the topic is repaving, here's a story from the midwest. I'm in northern MI at the moment (Harrisville, to be exact). On Saturday we drove up to Alpena on US Route 23. We hit a stretch that was being repaved. Must have been at least 5 miles long, maybe longer. The northbound side was milled, southbound had not been touched yet.

Anyway, it was pretty obvious from looking at the sb side that this road in no way needed to be repaved. It was in perfect shape. Not a crack or pothole in sight.

Pissed me off. What a waste of money. And as I said, it was a several mile stretch so it wasn't a trivial project.

here we go. 12.2 miles and 3.8 million

end of rant.

I think Prospect is smoother now that it’s been milled  smile

Maybe they’re doing the repaving before the road gets bad? Like replacing the roof before it leaks?
