There is a great senior discount card you can get at the South Orange Library. It gives you varying levels of discounts all over South Orange, for South Orange senior residents. Just need to show a piece of ID with a local South Orange address to get one.

Useful. Thanks. NJ Transit offers reduced fares, too.
Major reduction.............half fare to South Orange or Millburn
Not for NJT. Need to be able to show you are 62 years of age or older to get the card.

Buy my train tickets on an as needed daily basis. One look at me and the ticket agent issues my ticket,
no paperwork needed.............then he offers me a chair and a cold drink

Ashley Market has 5% on Tuesday for people over 55. Just ask and have it put on your card.
ETA: meant 55 or older.

How much fare reduction? Does the auto refill work like EZPass? (That would definitely be nice.) Why can't they do that (auto refill) for the rest of us?
JCC in West Orange has a good discounts for 65 and older and not much more to add a 2nd person 65 or older in same household
I forget how much the discount is -- possibly half price. And, yes, it does work like EZPass.

The problem is ya gotta make an initial trip to their office in lower Manhattan.
I was asking if the S.O. senior discount was only for S.O. seniors.
WM offers a senior discount. Not sure of the age requirement since I haven't applied.

I don't know about the auto refill part but the senior discount can be done by mail.

No, it's an NJ Transit discount, not town specific.

If you were asking about the S.O. Seniors discount card, yes, it is only available to seniors who reside in S.O.
You can go to the Edison Lab in West Orange and fill out an application and get a pass for free entry (with guests) for all National Parks, including the Edison Lab.
You can get free tickets to some events at SOPAC. Not sure if you have to be a member of one of the Senior Clubs in Maplewood or SO to qualify.
Island Beach State Park (and all nj state parks) are free for 62+.
This link brings you to many places with senior discounts. Locally, City Market on Irvington Ave. gives a senior discount on Wednesdays. Are there any other local places that give senior discounts?
