Sending a Gift to College Student in France

Daughter's birthday is coming up. I'm thinking the easiest thing might be to mail her a check which she can then deposit in her BOA account using her BOA app. I know I can simply put money into the account, but I wanted her to have something in her birthday card. I'm thinking gift cards won't work. Suggestions?

Also, would love to send her flowers. If anyone has done this though a Paris florist, please let me know.

If you want to send her something without incurring crazy shipping fees, you can order things for delivery through the local Amazon.com site. There must be one for France.

We sent flowers to my daughter when she did a semester abroad in Berlin. My usual "trick" is to call the nicest hotel you can think of near where she lives. The concierge of the hotel will often be able to recommend the best florist in the area. You can use YELP to search as well.

Which arrondissement is she in? I may be able to help.

There also several florists listed who participate with Teleflora, so you may be able to order through a florist or website here.

I have a friend who has sent flowers to Ukraine and he has used Teleflora and it's worked out fine. So you can try that.

The idea of a physical card is sweet but regular mail to Europe (like here) can be less than reliable...Paypal owns a service called Venmo to do funds transfer. I have not used it but maybe something like that would work?

If you want to send a check (money is always appreciated) go over to BOA and ask them is her app would work with a check you mailed to her abroad. I don't know why it wouldn't, but you could just check it out.
