Sandblasting or hi pressure water?

Hi,

We have a large fountain where the upper walls are stone.  Over the years previous owners have been painting the stone swimming pool blue. I'd like to take it back to natural, gray stone.

Experience/opinions on whether it has to be sand blasted or will an industrial strength hi pressure washer do the trick?

Any suggested vendors?

Many Thanks,

Ron Carter

Ron,

Be careful with sand blasting.  It cuts into most materials very fast.

I don't think that high pressure washer will do it.  You most likely need a paint remover (= slow laborious process).

Media blasting - not sand but typically less abrasive material.  It's what they use for restoring old cars to take off the paint and rust but not damage intact metal.  Google it and see if any of the options sound like they would work for you.

 Thanks, will check that out...
