There were some seedier sides to that '93 campaign and its leading men, but when it came to the games themselves, a fan couldn't have asked for anything more. (Other than, maybe, a better rested Wild Thing in Game 6.)
The Philadelphia Inquirer's obit:
Same awful cancer John McCain is suffering from. 4 years is actually quite a remarkable period of survival for glioblastoma- 2-3x longer than normal.

Rag-tag, probably, in the way the team was pieced together from castoffs (Jim Eisenreich, Pete Incaviglia, Mariano Duncan, Milt Thompson) and other stray parts (Kevin Stocker). And there was a lot of platooning and other lineup switching through the season.
There was a decent amount of steriods on that team (as with most teams in the 90s).

I was rooting for the Phillies in the '93 WS. Sports writers are describing the team as "rag-tag." The only thing I thought was rag-tag was their pitching, particularly relief. And Daulton handled them masterfully.
