As many may know, the British Spitfire - a single seater aircraft - was used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied countries in World War II.
In this World War II scene from the 1964 film "The Train," locomotive engineer Burt Lancaster comes under strafing attack by a Spitfire. Unbeknownst to the Spitfire pilot, the locomotive occupants were actually working with the French Resistance. Unfortunately, the train was not "marked" accordingly and the Spitfire works to stop it.
