Rest Peacefully, Sharon Duberman Geraghty

Just read of her passing on Facebook.  May she live on the memories of friends and family.  She will be missed.

I can't even...

She was just here, she was amazing, and I adored her. My love and condolences to Sharon's family, and to everyone who knew her.

So sad to hear - Rest in Peace Sharon.

Sad.  I did not know her, but she seemed to have a great life and lots of admiring friends and family.  She did a lot for the community too.

So sad, what a loss to her friends, family and the community.

Oh no. Did not know her in the real world, And now the real world has done this to this to her. To all kin & kith whose real worlds are now forever altered, I am so sorry for your loss. Even digitally, she was one of us.

was she on MOL? I recognize the name. Regardless, sad news and may she Rest In Peace.

Yes. All the time for a while there, a while ago, as "sharon"

She was big presence on MOL - she didn't really log in after one of our big updates - then she helped to start the SOMA groups on FB.  Here's her MOL profile: https://maplewood.worldwebs.com/profile/discussions/u/sharon

ah, yes that’s why I know her name the Swap meet FB page. Sad to hear this

Funeral? any other info??

So sad. Such a dynamic and witty person.

I only met her a few times, the first time when she came to my old house in MW for my son's birthday party yet I feel very sad to hear this news.  Sad for her family, her friends and the community.  It's just amazing to me how insidious this disease is and no one seems able to escape unscathed.

Rest in peace and condolences to her family and friends.

I first "met" Sharon on MOL and then in real life when our kids were in kinderrichment together about ten years ago. We worked out together regularly for awhile and became friendly. The last time I saw her in real life we hadn't seen each other in ages, only communicated online, and we chatted for a long time.

My heart aches for her boys, her husband, her mom and sister, our many mutual friends, and our community, both online and IRL. Sharon had a tough exterior, but gave 100 percent to so many causes and started several herself to help our schools and the less fortunate in our community.

Not fair.

Small private gathering last evening, and plans in the works for something on a more public scale in the new year once the holidays have passed and her family has had a chance to catch their breath.  I’ll post here once I know the confirmed specifics.

My own thoughts (stolen from Yeats, really) I posted on my personal FB page, but suffice it to say she fought a very good fight, and will be dearly missed.

A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Sharon Geraghty will be held on Sunday, February 25th from 2pm-4pm at Clinton Elementary School.

Clinton is located at 27 Berkshire Road in Maplewood.

Attendees are encouraged to contribute (printed) photos or written stories/memories that remember Sharon to add to a "remembrance basket." These will be taken home by her family to cherish for years to come.
