Radiator cover construction recommendation

I am looking for someone who can construct radiator covers. If you know of someone or a local company who does quality work at an affordable price, please leave their name / number. Thanks! oh oh

Be careful how you have them made. Depending on how they're vented, they can accelerate or retard convection by as much as 30%. You'll feel those changes in the rooms for as long as the covers remain in place.

Thanks! I was thinking about having them made with MDF like in this video:

I'm no master plumber, but I am a darn good carpenter, and I'll say MDF is the wrong product to use near steam. Water destroys it.

I offer a suggestion although it isnt what you asked for. I had good luck on local north jersey craigslist finding replacements in the past. A pretty wide array of sizes and styles from other older homes in the area. type in "radiator covers" with the "s" or you end up with a lot of automotive.

i have covers from this company. Good quality, happy with the products

I used a similar company and it worked out very well. Just be sure to measure carefully. Not only do you need to account for the valves and vents, but be sure you have clearance for window sills and any other trim. In our case, I had to shave off a little from the bottom of the cabinet to make it fit around the baseboards so it would sit flush. We got ours with black "lacquer" paint and it was very nice. No problems standing up to the vented steam.

It really is a doable project by yourself. This is one I made from scrap wood from my deck project this summer. I went pretty minimal with the decorative stuff. Keegan likes it so we now keep something on it so he won't pull that stunt again.

George Berkeley ((UPS in South Orange) did a bunch of these years ago if memory serves...

mark Goodman.us, here in Maplewood

Thank you for the suggestions and recommendations. I have found Jonathan Ney of Maplewood to do the work. Nice designs in poplar wood, reasonable price and a pleasant individual! oh oh
