Private Blog for Alumni Reunion

Who's good with blogs? I agreed to head up a project for my college reunion to create a digital "record book" where alumni can share news and photos from their lives, memories from their college years, etc. We used to create a printed book but this time around, everyone agrees that a digital product would be a better way to go. I envisioned a blog where alumni could submit postings -- the thing is, it really should be a private blog where the alumni have to register and log in, and I would be the administrator with privileges to edit their content if necessary. I've never created a blog before... Anyone have any advice or suggestions? TIA.

Perhaps you could start with your college. 

My college has an active alumni "section". You have to sign up for it.  I'm positive that they could set up something similar to what you want.  

If your school can host something electronically, that may be a good idea since then you could have some technical support if there were any glitches.

Two ways to go on Facebook: My alma mater creates a public page for each reunion class. I belong to a secret group page on Facebook that requires permission to join and is visible only to members.

Actually, I did start with them, but they were not especially helpful...

blogger lets you do this easily. It's a lot less creepy than Facebook.

And, the Facebook group pages are way to disorganized, IMO, for what you indicated your reunion group will be looking for.  

Yes -- I really didn't want to create a Facebook group for this purpose. Will look at blogger.
