As of this morning, 1/22/21, we are still looking at a wide spread in the models for Tuesday, but the trend seems to be towards 2 - 4" of snow overnight Monday through Tuesday evening. Actual time of snowfall will be shorter but right now falls within that window.
Thank you.
Is there a second storm for later next week? 2. To. 4 inches is ok, but I’m hearing the second storm will be more significant. Thoughts?

Sure looks possible. Tonight’s model runs are eye-popping but appear to be south of the MAPSO area. Very textbook evolution though. Bears watching.

How far south of mapso? 195? I have friends down there just dying for a good snow storm. It’s so cold now I feel all precipitation will definitely be frozen. I’ll keep watching you guys for updates. Thank you
As of Sunday morning, 1/24/21, Tuesday snowfall looks pretty minor, a long duration light snow event from early morning into the evening. Total 1 - 2 " with some sleet possibly moving in late in the day.
Also keeping an eye on a possibly more significant storm Thursday-Friday but a bit too early to tell yet.
Monday Morning Update for Tuesday, Jan 26, 2021
Tomorrow looking more messy than pretty. Light precipitation all day and into the evening starts as snow in the morning with sleet mixing midday and possibly some light freezing rain in the afternoon. Precipitation tapers off overnight but Wed morning roads could be a bit slick.
As of now, the storm Thursday looks like it will miss us.
I would rather have 1 to 3 inches of snow than trace if freezing rain. Hopefully it starts snowing later in the day Tuesday. These all day flizzards are annoying when you have to drive around in them.
so the later storm just goes out to sea? Hope it does. Those are the ones that fools everyone, they hook back and then we get 6 inches. I still get flashbacks going down oakview during one of those “surprises” a few years ago.

The headline here is not the snow (only an inch or so), it is the slick road conditions, particularly Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night.

Greeeaaattt! I have to go to Hackensack tomorrow afternoon. No two ways about it.
ETA: Thanks for the report.
Light snow should start mid morning today, Tuesday Jan 26 2021, changing over to mixed snow and sleet mid to late afternoon. Chance of freezing rain mixing in from mid-afternoon on. Precipitation ending for the most part tonight, although there is a chance of snow showers Wednesday.
There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until midnight for possible slick road conditions.
After driving all over Newark today, I have to say I've been pleased with how this has not been much of a problem so far.
