Please Help Save Ellliott!

Elliott was Nancy Schetelick's dog. Nancy was a dedicated volunteer at the former JAC animal shelter and a SOMA for Animals member. Sadly she passed away last fall leaving three dogs to be cared for. Apparently 2 are at a rescue but Elliott desperately needs a home.If you think if anyone who can help please read this Facebook post at https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10212581085906666&set=gm.1086636944774300&type=3&theater

This was posted by Gale, who was Nancy's former neighbor and very good friend.

For those who cannot get to FB, I am pasting Gale's message below:

Elliott will die on March 28 if we do not find him a new home. Read my posts below. I will arrange a meet and greet with anyone interested the dog is presently in Union New Jersey. Caregiver is guaranteeing lifetime Veterinary Care and possible lifetime food. Ellie is 7 - 8 years old, fully vaccinated and neutered, and weighs 40 - 45 pounds. He is fabulous . With adults, teens and kids. He is a low-maintenance dog who just loves to hang out with his owners and watch TV. Likes a short time out in the yard and the nice weather or to do his business. If anyone has questions they may email me at GaleGrafix2aol.com I will respond to all questions in the same day. Serious inquiries only please. Breaks my heart. Have you reached out to local vets as well? Could he possibly be moved to a no kill shelter? He's beautiful! We have 2 dogs (rescues) and a cat. I would take him in a minute if I could. Please keep us posted.

Is it possible Elliot came to JAC with a sibling? We have a dog (named norman while at JAC) that looks like his identical twin and about the same age.

We can vouch for how amazing a dog our Titan (aka Norman) was if my son could take a second dog we would take him, it may be too much for him.

Will think hard about this !

Wish I could help Elliott, but it's just not possible.  I'm so sorry, as I met Nancy and know how much she cared about animals.  I stumbled on this site the other day and thought you might want to post on it:  https://cy-gb.facebook.com/groups/553331934733507/

I am not sure whether he had a sibling. He did  live with  two  other dogs  now placed in a sanctuary where Elliott could not go because he is not friendly to new dogs or other animals. Apparently he is great with people and children.

For more details please check out the FB group One Last Chance for Ellliott at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1086284451476216/

It has more details, pictures and videos of him

Just saw a commercial for Shake a Paw (I think in Union on 22).  They say they will take any unwanted dog and find a home.  I have heard negative reviews about that place, but it sounds like a better option if anyone needs to turn over a dog.  Unfortunately, probably can't transfer this dog there.

If our current dogs weren't seniors and finicky, I would scoop this guy up in a heartbeat. An Aussie red heeler right? We had a blue that passed away a couple years ago at 18 yrs of age and we still mourn him. Great dogs. Does Elliott love to play ball?

The update on ex_citigirl's Facebook page is wonderful news! Seems there's a good chance that Elliott will receive a reprieve soon. Ex-citigirl, major kudos to you for everything you've done for Elliott in Nancy's memory.

Thanks but Gale Petrecca deserves all the credit, not me. I have been sharing her FB page and she is doing all the heavy lifting and ,fingers crossed it seems as if there are several promising candidates for adoption.

This is encouraging news. I have been following the story with some regret, since I'm already over-boarded with my own plus several fosters, all cats.

There are always more out there.

Keep us posted I have a rescuer who would take him in a pinch but we are all hoping for an adopter. Nancy walked the most difficult dogs at the JAC all through her chemo treatments and her remission. No dog had a better friend and no shelter had a more dedicated volunteer. I was happy to see her at the early SOMA For Animals meetings. My vet Jackie commented recently on how much she loved Elliot and she reached out to 2 rescues herself. We all wish Elliot a happy home.
