You’ve said plenty of Ridiculous things here on this thread I think you should take a break.

ridiculous things…. There’s a term for the condition you suffer with…

The car thief was arrested. The baby is safe. The mother maybe learned her lesson.  Maybe. You leave your car running on a main road and go into a store, then have both towns police departments racing through residential neighborhoods to catch the thief. One single stupid act by one inconsiderate person could have turned out more tragic.  Maybe that’s why some of us are very disturbed by this incident.

There are people who walk or drive around looking for an opportunity to see stupid people doing stupid things. Sadly that’s the world we live in.

let it go. The victim and her baby are safe and sound. She obviously learned a lesson of epic proportions. Your continued condemnation of the woman is sadly starting to sound like victim shaming. Yes, don’t leave your children in a car ever. Don’t do it. She got the message. If you feel you need to continue going onto social media to discuss what happened that is OK, you just really need to stop shaming the victim. That would be the polite thing to do. Hopefully, moving forward you’ll keep that in mind.

This.^^

thank you. The Great Fruit is a proud American.

How does anyone know "she got the message"?

Oh. You don't.

very silly post. Her child was abducted, her life was changed forever.

Redfruit kept harping on this making believe he's some sort of moral authority here:

drummerboy and others here do have a point.

There is a gray area here that includes considering negligence on the mother's part. It is a great thing that the child is safe and was unhurt. Also that the car thief was apprehended. One could argue to the prosecutor that he did not intend to kidnap a child. He might very well be charged with crimes that could incarcerate him for quite a long time. It would be deserved in my opinion - but that is just my opinion.

There will be others that actually have an impact on the outcome of all this. Including perhaps any child safety authorities if that mother has ever had any such incidences in the past. We don't know that either.

now you’re a legal expert too? I thought you were a scientist. All jokes aside, enough about how to punish the mom. It’s disgusting. Her life is changed and she doesn’t need neighbors (for those who go still live in SOMA) attacking her. It’s called being respectful so no, drunmerboy and others have no point short of just wanting to gossip and condemn from the Cloak of anonymity. Again gross.

I guess Peter Wick “don’t read too good” either. But as I’ve told you before, You’re a troll who never brings substance to a conversation, so again sir, I’ll remind you, I’d rather have nothing to do with you. I won’t further respond to you on this thread.

can't take the heat, eh?

and Mr. Wick reads just fine.

you, not so much.

Can we agree that the only people who acted properly in this situation were the police who found the child and caught the car thief?  Hopefully, everyone else involved will learn from the situation. This is a teachable moment for those who think it is OK to leave an  unattended sleeping child in the car while they run what they hope will be a quick errand.  If this story convinces one person not to act in this manner in the future, the OP will have served its purpose.

I agree. But getting everyone to agree on a thread on MOL is at best a thankless task.

the problem is the next lesson could be DEADLY....a kid can be killed, pets have died when in cars left running and stolen, an innocent bystander can be killed, a cop can be killed....society is not learning the lesson...and for that to happen......if we start holding reckless people responsible, word will get out and hopefully make people think about them selves and they will be responsible for themselves to stay out of trouble.

there should be LARGE deductible on car insurance if a theft is due to the fob being left or the car running unattended..but of course rich people still won't care about that...and will still play innocent victim.

no one is saying these kids should automatically be ripped form the homes or the parent thrown in jail...but a practical punishment like a child endangerment conviction on record to prevent them from getting a job with children and community services educating others.....

Imagine being called a troll by someone who comes on here, never adding anything positive to any discussion. Calling people fake , deceitful and narcissistic is nothing more than mere  projection.
The person sharing weather information is fake.

The person sharing their vast knowledge about contagious diseases in nothing more than a wannabe “scientist “ who works at Home Depot and moonlight as an Uber driver.

I think drummer boy is one of the most valuable members of this site. Regardless of his opinions. He keeps things moving. He genuinely cares about MOL. Not some fool who comes on here to discredit others and insult some of the people who actually make this site worth the while.

as if on cue...i was in a grocery store this evening...one i don't normally go to, but was otherwise in the area and needed a few things....2 girls about 5 and 6 are playing on the stack of soda can boxes...it was mostly depleted, but the back section was about their heads.  they had climbed up and put a phone with a video running on top of a box to watch it....then they were walking across the boxes stacked 2-3, climbing up and down...they eventually walked off with a female alleged adult who either didn't see what they were doing or didn't care....unless they fell and got hurt......and then she would only care because it would be a money grab...and no i didn't intervene, that could get me killed.  I had stopped to see if i could see an adult with them and they walked away before I could do anything....if necessary, i would have an employee handle it...but every time I have ever approached an employee with a hazard, they just gave me a blank look.....1 time was in a Walmart where they had apparently called a Code Adam just as I entered the store...luckily i headed to the back of the store 1st and noticed the 14 month old playing alone...and no one seemed to think it was a problem..no adult in sight.  I stopped the kid who had started to toddle off as a worker came out of the store room and I told him i had the missing kid....i got a huh?  and a blank stare....at that point, the parent came non nonchalantly walking up.
