Physician Patient Portals

Useless and frustrating.   I made the mistake of signing up for a couple. They crash. They provide insufficient information.

---last two physicians were told, patient portals increase my blood pressure. If you need to convey information, call. I

I haven’t had any issues like that. My only complaint with them is that no two doctors seem to use the same patient portal

I'm signed up to a few. They're all pretty clunky, but they get the job done.

But don't even mentioned my online pharmacy.(OptumRX) That one makes me crazy. What a piece of turd that is.

I use them but find they often have poor interfaces and buggy software.  I used to work in software development so I'm always thinking evil thoughts when I have to use crappy programs, which is all the time.

They are clunky and I’m also prone to forgetting the dang password which is annoying.

BUT they still beat calling the office by a mile, IMO. My one doc gets back to me within a couple hours usually, no fuss no muss.

I've had mixed experiences with SMG. Some doctors are more responsive than others. All in all, though, I'd have to say the portal is useful. You just can't 100% rely on it.

Summit’s online presence is total garbage their UI/UX and functionality is dismal.  I also have several doctors who use Healow - that’s flawless imo, very quick access to test etc and easy to look through medical history.  In terms of response, one is within hours on Healow, the other can take a day.

Summit's portal has worked perfectly for me.  My primary physician responds to all messages within 24 hours, and all test results have been posted as soon as available (timing varies by lab & type of testing).

I've had some problems with Summit last time I used it.  Some results are in the system, others are not.  Communication is spotty.  Sometimes linked with other sources.  If you want a result, such as a lab test or report, it occasionally is helpful finding it there before calling the office.

i like scheduling appointments online.  I have had MULTIPLE problems with receptionists who sound American born with English as their first language, yet can't understand the concept of late day or afternoon.

One at UMDNJ took 3 days to get on the phone...I repeatedly indicated i needed an appointment at the end of the day/late.  She put me on hold, came back a half hour later and said I was all set for 9:30am.

+1. Their phone people are even worse. I went back to CVS, even though it costs me more.
