Odd text from USPS (or not)?

Received a text today, from a weird 12 digit number (but with a USPS logo):

The USPS package has arrived at the warehouse and cannot be delivered due to incomplete address information.  

Please confirm your address in the link within 12 hours:  http://usps.uspskkk.com

I assume that this is an attempt to steal info/ID?

Go onto informed delivery.  See if there is a record there of a package pending for you.  You can provide feedback while on the site, provide the twelve digit number you have and ask if the query you received is legit.

Scam. Delete, block and report asap. It also comes in emails. These people are parasites on society.

do not even do this. Just delete it. The post office never sends out messages or emails like that.

Yes, or malware. The first red flag is http instead of https. Don’t click it.

I’ve gotten several of these texts this week. Doesn’t help that I also had free Covid tests arriving which had valid emails from USPS.

the uspskkk is the site they are trying to lure you to.  You have to look at the letters before the .com.

I agree this is almost certainly a scam.  That said, going to the official source (informed delivery) is far safer than clicking on a link in an unsolicited email or text.

On Thursday I sent a priority mail package to my niece in California. Due to 11/11 being a Federal holiday it will be arriving today. Tracking it.  Ironically or perhaps not I received two of those texts tomcast received. I knew not to check it but I wonder if the scammer somehow has gotten information about who is sending what or is this just a lucky guess like when you get a message from "your" bank and while it is your bank, it's a scam in any event.

I got 4 of these darn texts just today. It's called smishing.

I got taken in a scam a few weeks ago for $187. On the phone. I was angrier at myself than anything else. It's hardened me. I'm skeptical about every call, every text and every email. I think that's the best way to be these days. Look at the URL of any email that comes in. If it isn't clearly USPS.com, or some other URL consistent with the emailers self-identification, delete it. Same with phone calls "collecting a debt." Be cynical. If it's a legitimate caller, they'll understand. 

ETA: someone suggested that if anyone ever calls to collect a debt that you're not aware of, say "I don't pay bills over the phone; please send me an invoice and I'll pay it right away."  I've had 2 opportunities to use that line and they both hung up. 

I've been getting these texts too.  I knew it was fake. Every time I get one, I block the number.

I don't think blocking helps. I got five of these things yesterday, each from a different number. Pretty sure the numbers are fake/random.

I received one yesterday. Deleted it. First clue is USPS doesn't have a "warehouse" where my package is.
