Neurologist for a dog
I don't know of any such specialists off hand but maybe you could check with Madison Animal Hospital (I think that's the name). They are located over on Main Street (124) between Chatham and Madison.
I would call Murray Hill Vet in New Providence for a recommendation.
The neurology team at Garden State Veterinary Specialists saved our dog's life when two discs ruptured in his neck, causing him great pain and paralysis. They have an on-site MRI so they can quickly diagnose and do surgery at the same time (so you don't need anaesthesia twice). It is **expensive** but the care was outstanding. Good to know of other places that actually have a name for themselves in this arena.
My dog was seen by Dr. Massicotte at AERA (what everyone calls Fairfield). It turned out to be a surgical issue, so our time with her was brief, but she certainly seemed capable. The specialists at this hospital are very good but very expensive.

Our first pug was also seen by Dr. Massicotte at Fairfield and we were very satisfied with her thoroughness, exam and how she interacted with us and the dog. It turned out that surgical intervention was going to be iffy, so we opted not to do it, but she very carefully explained all of the options that we had. I would certainly recommend her for spinal issues.

I have a good friend with a semi-paralyzed dog who suddenly isn't moving much. Even in his condition, he usually hops around a lot & is quite lively. She went to their regular vet & Buddy's bloodwork came back normal - at first she feared kidney failure. Her vet said the next step might be to see a neurologist. Does anyone have any recommendations on a neurologist for animals. someone you have direct experience with? I'd be grateful for your recommendations & will pass the information on to her.
