I had posted about my cousin's cat a few years ago- the cat had been in the tree 3 days and they contacted a Bergen county tree service  to do it but a neighbor had a 100 ft ladder.= The cat was very dehydrated and nearly dead - so much for everyone saying the no one ever saw a cat skeleton....

Good luck there seems to be more tree services that do this now.... Autumm Tree service 201 -376 -8422

the neighbor was contacting  a tree service yesterday.  I don't really know her (lives down the block) and don't want to bother her about the outcome at this point.  I couldn't look, but they said it was an area a ladder would be dangerous and really needed someone who knew trees and what was safe.  It had already been 3 days since the cat went missing, and people had walked through that area and didn't hear anything.  Appears to be something instantaneous, maybe a fall from a higher branch

How terribly sad.  MOL wasn't letting me post the last couple of days, so this is probably not much use at this point, but here's the thread about the cat up the tree from last year:

I found a directory of people who do this sort of thing, but I've no idea how much they charge.

i wrote down the info in case I see her.  I had told her I knew of services that will specifically come out for cats, if she needs to, she can look for me.  I am hoping she got the cat down by now.

Did you try the fire department? I've called for help with dog rescue several times and they were always very accommodating. I think they spend a lot of time waiting for fires and appreciate a change of scenery. I don't know about calling them for a dead cat, though. That might be pushing it.

It was an area a free standing ladder couldn't safely get to, no way to get the truck nearby.  Really needed someone specifically skilled in tree climbing.

Maplewood Fire Dept. will not assist with cats in trees.  I tried several years ago, and the chief was not at all sympathetic to the issue.

Sorry to hear that. They got my elderly St. Bernard out of the duck pond. Good thing, because I couldn't have done it myself.
